I work at a small Municipal generating station. 1 medium unit and two small units. Started there as an electrician, got bored with that and went into operations and learned how to generate electricity. 8 years ago I tried to convince them what Obama was about to do to our industry if elected. Made the die hard Union heads mad. 4 years later they did it again and I saw the handwriting on the wall and applied for and got a position in System Control as a NERC RC. It is golden. I can go all over and get work. So yesterday they announced 50 layoffs at generation and are going to close 2 plants. I am working tonight writing procedures to shut them down. They are stunned and confused. Some I feel bad for and some not at all. I told them this was going to happen and got laughed at. Dumb fuckers voted for their own demise.

Union leadership gets bought out at the national level (get a grant and become reliant on renewing that grant, and then you sell your soul for that grant funding). The nationals tell the locals what to do and like idjits, the locals do. Tough sh*t on the membership if they can't figure out what is good for them. You tried and deserve credit for it.

Several plants near me are switching to gas. Gas fired plants seem great, except only require 1/3 of the workforce. The union guys are just now "getting it". Too late guys. Here is what I want to know... If the union is all about jobs, why are the not standing behind Trump? |

I hope that I sleep okay knowing that those Union fellas are getting hammered...

Good luck to all of you.
The degrowrgers killed hydro in New England years ago. Now they want to run transmission lines thought this area to Carly electricity generated by hydro in Canada. You guess it, they don't want the transmission lines either. I guess our children and grandchildren are not only going to be saddles with a huge national debt, but also the inability to generate electricity at a reasonable cost! |

The South Americans and Muslims are replacing the union guys as a voting block.

My state is shitting itself over the coal war. Have an entire town built up around a plant that is closing...... Thanks to Washington and Oregon tards, and that one in the White House.

I wouldn't feel bad OP. You did your part and the writing was on the wall, hell Zero even read it to them, but they chose not to listen.

I worked the MEC plant a few years ago. I liked the area, good restaurants. But they did fucked up cycling when the wind picked up. They shut the units off and on like a light switch. Slagged the fuck out of em. Right on the Mizzou. |

The union reps will always have jobs. The membership not so much.
Something to consider and remember, while demos can say that they will bring in new jobs, they don't say where those jobs will be. Can't force companies to build plants for alternative energy development next to what used to be a coal mine or steel mill. So that promise is as worthless as the air that was exhaled with it. Meanwhile China will produce and use all the coal it needs to produce their power and cheap steel to ship here. Keep voting democrats It's not all about guns. |
