Damn!

Will my gun wear out, etc, etc? Will my gun get lose if I don't clean it with synthetic oil?

I tell them my Glock 17 has a tonnage of miles on it. Don't worry. SHOOT IT!

RUN THE MF'r for crying out loud!

You won't wear it out shooting a box of ammo every 5 years!

I don't know anyone that can afford enough ammo to wear out a decent gun.

I know a guy who will only shoot 5 rnds at a time, slow fire, through his franken FAL so the barrel won't overheat and wear out.

It's fairly common to shoot out a barrel on a precision rifle. Granted it takes a lot of rounds, but they do wear out.

I saw a while ago that CampyBob finally shot the rifling out of a Maadi at around 40K rds.

I have a Kimber that has 75,000-85,000 rounds through it without a single thing replaced, or even touched by a gunsmith. With a 12 lbs. spring, it runs both my IDPA and Steel Challenge loads just fine, which is rare since the steel challenge loads use 155gr. SWC, which normally require feed ramp modification to feed well. I clean it every 1,000 to 1,500 rounds, so it's not exactly babied.

My AR-15 needed an extractor replaced at about 10,000. I replace them every 5,000 now just to be safe (this is a home defense weapon)

My Glock goes 10,000 rounds before being cleaned, and I don't even blink about it.

Glock 17s can shoot 500,000 no problem. My indoor range had rental G17 that shot 750,000 rounds on the factory frame after replacing the slide at 500,000. The range is now closed. The help on clean the gun after people complain of jamming, and only a very cursory at best.

Can anyone afford to wear out a G17

Yes, but would that really effect a Maadi's accuracy?

Nah, if it was a Glock it'd be in several pieces by now.

I've toasted the barrel (forcing cone) of my Blackhawk after about 5k full power magnum rounds. Mechanically it's fine. It just needs a new barrel or the old one set back by one thread.

I've had guys at the skeet range tell me that I shouldn't just shoot my bottom barrel on singles, because I would wear out the bottom barrel first. I've never heard of a real incident where a shotgun barrel wore out.

Well if you shoot mill surplus stuff you have no clue how many rounds have been shot.
My Finn Capture 91/30 was probably used on both sides of the same war and was pulled off of atleast one dead solder in the middle of russian winter. 70 years later still shoots great.
