Do you measure a man by his word (honor)?

To me, honor is the measure of a man. My word is bond and I expect the same from all men I deal with... My handshake is better than my signature in my opinion...

Do you feel the same way?

Do as you say, say as you do.  I also believe that my word is my bond.

Yes I do.

Unfortunately there are so few people who feel the same way that you are better off assuming that anyone else's word is worthless.

Yes.

I'll go to my grave KNOWING that I stood up for what I believed, told the truth and stuck to my guns...with HONOR.  I kept my word.

Sometimes it means you have to suck it up and do something you don't really want to...but in the long run it will pay off.

A man who does not keep his word or shades the truth is a man without honor and is not to be trusted.

Let me go a bit further....

Do you consider honor and integrity to be the same? I do....
What is your definition of honor?

Mine is:
If you tell me you are going to be somewhere at a certain time, you better be early...
If you say you are going to sell me something for $X, it better not be a cent more...
If you say you'll call me back, I want you to call my mother if you can't get me!
If you shake my hand, you better be loyal and faithful as a friend...
If you say you have my back in an arguement or fight and you run, we will meet again!

These are just some things that came into my head....Give me some of your examples...

"honor is a mans gift to himself"

I won't pretend that I always do the right thing, but I'll be damned if I go back on my word.

My word is my bond. It has gotten me in trouble for keeping my word. But people that know me , know that I keep my word.

Your honor and integrity are pretty much the ONLY things you really own in your life.  This is one of the things I tell my MBA students (some of them might even listen to me )

People who have a sense of honor are quite rare these days.

It makes having honor even more important.

Honor has become a rare and valuable commodity.

Know what I mean?

I'll just assume that anyone who doesn't come to this thread to brag about how honorable they are (like I just did) is a worthless and dishonest weasel

Unless they post in this thread and lie - then they are also weasels, but I won't know who they are!

Yes my word is honorable. But I hate that I severely suffer from C.R.S... So if its some thing I have to remember for the long term I best to right it down. Oh well...
