For fuck's sake.

I think it was last week.
It's 64 degrees after 10 PM and supposed to hit the mid-80's tomorrow. ETA: sorry. |

This winter...at least in the DC area, is WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY milder than last year, in spite of everyone and their mother predicting that this winter was going to actually be even worse than last year.
I took the christmas lights off the roof yesterday wearing just jeans and a long sleeve shirt. It was 45 and sunny. Last year at this time it was 12 degrees and windy, every damn day. |

this winter has been easy.
It's 36 out right now and I'm not complaining. |
|
Drove home from Pocatello yesterday. Solid ice from Victor, ID through Jackson to Dubois. Pretty sucky.
|
|
I wore a short sleeve shirt and jeans yesterday. A long-sleeve shirt or light windbreaker might have been needed if the wind picked up.
We had a very cold blast a couple of weeks ago that lasted 2-3 days, but otherwise it's been pretty mild. |

For fuck's sake. View Quote Nope, not over yet My '13 HD Wide Glide is back together waiting, installed cams, bearings, lifters, pushrods, flashed the ECM with the new FI map from the Power Vision, polished it and polished it waiting for the chance to start it again... luckily I've got a ShovelHead I'm restoring to get me through the rest of the winter otherwise I'd run screaming into the night. I get the garage toasty warm, put on some 80's music, open an adult beverage, work on the bikes and pretend it's not winter, it's the only way to survive it... and it's snowing big time right now, took the day off so I'm thinking it's 5 o'clock somewhere... winter is all about surviving |

I chuckle when people say last year was harsh in the North East. Apparently they forgot what it was like in the 90's when we used to get snow nearly 6 months out of the year in central NY.
Give me the snow dammit, not this piss. |
|
As others pointed out, this winter is a cake walk compared to last year.
Only fired up the snow blower once. Took a college visit with our daughter this past weekend and it was 51F! |
|
Over here on the west slope it was in the mid-40s all last week, through yesterday. But a small front blew through overnight and it's only suppose to be in the high 30c today and tomorrow. Warming back into the 40s for the weekend.
My electric bill showed the average temperature for last month was 27*..compared to 17* for the same period last year. And we haven't gotten nearly as much snow this year. I'm really afraid it's going to be a miserable summer. And I love hot, dry summers. |
|
Lovin' it. 14 inches of ice, 32 degrees out, and the walleyes are snapping in the shack.

|
We have small little hills but we need snow to ski down them. Bring the snow!

It's only mid-January. Still plenty of time for harshness to ensue.

Take heart. Despite the brutal cold, heavy snow and how long is stayed LAST YEAR, NOAA declared 2014 was the warmest on record.
http://www.nytimes.com/2015/01/17/science/earth/2014-was-hottest-year-on-record-surpassing-2010.html?_r=0 Sorry it's the NY Times reporting. I can't locate a credible news source. Wait until the panic sets in when the devastating heat of 2015 is declared. |

It's been very mild in DFW this year. Funny, because the farmers almanac was predicting it to be really wet and cold.

We are in the midst of a January warm-up. Most of the snow has melted from the roads and it's light jacket weather.
|
|
Given that the date is Jan 20th I tend to believe winter will still be with us for a couple of months
If it stays mild fine but we are in desperate need of moisture snow cover right now would be best Going to be really rough on the maple syrup folks this year my neighbor is already in full swing tapping trees and processing syrup. Think I better hop on over and buy a quart from him while I can. |

This winter here has been a 'bust' so far. We have had warmer then normal temps and little to no snow. One would think that Alaska would have good winters! I have not had the snow machine out once yet this season, as there is no snow at my place to be able to load it up. We might get some snow and cold temps in Feb/March but then again we might not. It has been great for the moose though and I will take that!

It was sunny and in the 50's a couple days ago. Very confused, I was.

I just looked outside and see that nasty white shit coming down, so nope.

Lives in Colorado but complains of Winter in mid-January.....Interesting.

It's been very mild here. I hope it continues. It's rained in the valleys and snowed in the mountains. Perfection.
