[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Is this a good deal on ammo?

my local dealer found a deal on .223 American Ammunition made by IMI for $65/500 rnds. i've heard some bad stuff about AMerican, but if it's made by IMI, what's the difference? should i pass it up?

I dont know the stuff that Amercian Ammunition makes is junk.

I dont see it being made by IMI at that price, Id leave it alone myself.

But do you have $70 to gambel?

Google it and check online prices. I've never shot it myself. Anything in the Ammo FAQ?

Wolf is still good and cheap to shoot

take the savings and get a couple more 30 rounders

I have been using Wolf for a couple of months now, and I have no complaints.

Its good plinking ammo, a little dirty but it shoots everytime

I use it in my Colts and ArmaLites, and will buy more of it

i thought IMI was good stuff. if it's by them for American (not made by American), wouldn't it be better?

I just don't trust the price. For that price range of 5.56NATO, Wolf is a known property. I haven't had any major problems with it. It's just more dirty and less potent and accurate then the XM193 that is my first choice. But that's the difference between $200/1000 and $120/1000.

American Ammo is not made by IMI. Check the ammo forum, it's crap. Wolf is dirty, but it shoots every time and is even fairly accurate. Ops

From watching my buddy try to shoot some in his AR15, I would not put any of that shit in my guns! It printed all over the place at 30 yds., from a gun of proven accuracy. It was given to him by a gun shop owner he worked for, as was some 9mm that was also crap. Even "free" that crap sucks!
