Brought to you by the people the broke the Fast & Furious scandal.
Last week, a secret deal involving the National Rifle Association lobbying arm and brokered by politicians of both national political parties was struck in Washington DC that would save the ATF from the political and legal consequences of its own regulatory errors. In the process, this deal would broaden the language of the 1968 Gun Control Act regarding "sporting purposes" More at link: http://sipseystreetirregulars.blogspot.com/2015/04/ssi-exclusive-negotiating-rights-away.html |

Pretty sure this is a dupe without having to widen the definition of "Sporting Dupes". |
|
Wouldn't widening the definition of sporting purposes be a good thing?

Wouldn't widening the definition of sporting purposes be a good thing? View Quote Are we talking about widening the definition in favor of gun owners or the ATF "widening " their definition of what does not meet the sporting purposes? You can bet your ass that it's going to be advertised as being in favor of the gun owners but in reality that it will actually be ATF restricting the definition more narrowly. |
|
Exactly how are they widening the sporting purposes rule? The article does not say. How are we suppose to understand what is going on if they do not explain exactly what is be changed?
|
|
Wouldn't broadening what "sporting purposes" mean that they wanted to represent a wider range of gun owner's interests?
Isn't that actually better for anyone who doesn't hunt? Shit. That's a compliment. We're a big enough market segment to warrant the NRA trying to cover us better than they have in the past? Step in the right direction, I say. |

They are the most anti of anti-gun groups in this country. They make the Brady brunch look like girl scouts. Clearly this is bad for gun owners. |

Seems like the NRA is getting pistol grip shotguns in exchange for the possibility of an ammo import ban.
Good trade? |

Would be perfect if the NRA could deliver another ass fucking to american gun owners on May 19th. - and call it "good for all of us" yet again.

The Brady Bunch has spent decades offering us trades where they get to take something away, in exchange for letting us keep something else that they wanted to take away. I prefer a trade where we get pistol grip shotguns and no ammo import ban, and the BATF gets to keep half of their annual budget. If the BATF has screwed themselves, by making stuff up as they go, let the BATF deal with fixing their screw ups. |

Man they sold us out years ago. There nothing more that a group of cocktail sipping two faced scum bags just like all our politicians.

If it's sporting purpose related, it would probably ban AR/AK ammo. I'd much rather have affordable import ammo than any shitty pistol grip shotgun. |

Wouldn't widening the definition of sporting purposes be a good thing? No it wouldn't be. There is no fucking "sporting purpose" in the second amendment. Well.....unfortunately there is one in the GCA '68....... What does "widening the definition" mean exactly......would it more clearly define what "sporting" is and allow more exemptions? maybe pistol grips and folding stocks now "sporting".....if so that might not be a bad thing.....bring the definition of "sporting purposes" more in line with 21st century firearms? As far as PG shotguns, who knows?....a few years ago there was no such thing as a non-NFA shotgun with a PG and a bbl. of less than 18"....regardless of the OAL..... |

This could possibly explain why Rand Paul was not invited to the NRA convention. He's not for this bullshit if a sell out with the NRA and ATF is true.
