I've been want a fun car and it seems like the C5 Z06 is at the price/performance sweet spot. I like the 04 Le Mans Z16 color scheme and would probably hold its value better being a Commemorative Edition. Are there any other cars GD would recommend? And don't say Miata, I'd rather smash my dick with a hammer.

I think they are a good value but are getting a bit dated in some areas for the price but it will holds it value fwiw.
Are you talking about that color scheme with that huge white stripe? If so I love the blue but thwt huge white stripe is an eye sore.

The C5Z is a great deal for the money no doubt. If you are just trying to stretch your money as far as it will go, you could even do what I did and pick up a regular C5 coupe or FRC for thousands less and dump all of the extra cash into the drivetrain. Won't handle at a road course like a Z, but would have significantly more power. Good luck.

I read it as CZ Z06, I was like woa, wtf new model is that, awesome.

I think it is a great deal. I bought one about an 02 Z06 year ago. I like the one that I have but work and the kids have kept me to about a 600 miles a year.
Mine had headers and exhaust when I got it. Previous owner had it tuned after the exhaust and it produced 399 to the rear wheels.
399 at the wheels gives an estimate of about 460 at the crank. Not too bad of a bump from estimated 405 to 460 with an exhaust.
The traction control options are also pretty good for a car of that era. There is competitive driving mode that will not cut power due to rear wheel spin but still keep ABS and Yaw control on in case things get too crazy.
I like the Z16 also but they were pretty rare and a price bump of a couple thousand over an 02 or 03 Z06 when I found mine.

I think the C6 Z06 is the best bang for the $, I've had 3 and now have a C6 ZR1.

I couldn't agree more. If you can afford a C6Z - that is the one to get.

Just a quick look and the C6Z is more than I want to spend. Cheapest one was $12k + more than a Z16 I was looking at online. I also haven't ruled out black.

It's on my bucket list.
