Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Is supplemental insurance worth it?

At work the are offering a variety of supplemental policies that will pay extra should I come down with cancer, have a heart attack, pay for a heart transplant or if I have any type of serious injury.  I am inclined not to get it since I am young, if good heath and have out-growth the "hold my beer and watch this" phase.

Does it include short term disability?
Or just for the mentioned type of illnesses?
You stated you are young, past medical history of you and your family can make a diff. in your decision.
Also cost can be a factor.
Just because you are young don't have the it can't happen to me mind set.
