Has anyone met one that wasn't?

My wife just started school again and her new professor is a HUGE liberal. Just moved here from NYC less than 6 months ago.

First day was yesterday and she came home and went off for an hour about his views on gun control and politics, which he somehow managed to work into his introduction...

In 1989 I had a professor who was ex CIA(not the spy type) teaching biology. He was also what we called back then a survivalist and the class was a lot of fun. He did not like commies or libs, that was more fun.

I had a friend who went to be a prof at a major university. He was liberal before, he is radical now. No longer friends.

Not a requirement, it's just who is drawn to the job.

The really dumb liberals work in the union.

Nope. I just graduated from the University of Washington with a BA in PoliSci, and the professor who signed off on my senior thesis is a major free market libertarian and very pro gun.

I have yet to run into a raging lib professor at my school... Community college was a different story.

I had one professor that I would consider very conservative. It probably helped that he went to seminary school before pursuing an advanced degree.

The only solid conservative prof's I ever had were either history or polysci.

They knew the true evils of socialism.

Is this a serious question?  Yes, it is, because they're the ones doing the hiring.

Oh also, this guy used to be a psychologist and quit because- according to him- he "couldn't handle the pressure".

Also went off on a 30 minute story about how he taught at a school for at-risk youth and put himself "in the middle of a gang war".

According to my wife, all of the kids straight out of high school were eating it up.

I haven't had a liberal professor since a required humanities class. Liberal's brains don't work good in my field.

Probably depends on school, and discipline.  I was pleasantly surprised to find a former prof of mine (Canadian, not sure if naturalized or dual citizen) is not only a gun lover, but also a CCW instructor.

My math, economics, and business professors weren't annoying liberals.

I had a KICK ASS professor of political philosophy who was a straight-up Churchill-worshiping conservative.  He wrote books about Churchill.
http://www.uaa.alaska.edu/politicalscience/Faculty/muller.cfm

I loved his classes.  The syllabus was reading original texts.  The tests were writing essays about assigned reading.

I was exposed to moonbat professors when I was forced to take "broadening" elective courses.

I had a guess. All of the engineers I know tend to be very anti-liberal.

That's exactly the case here. I actually laughed out loud when she told me he used to be a shrink and couldn't handle it. Here he is teaching Psych.

My wife got her bachelors from Harvard, a PhD from University of Colorado at Boulder.

She worked as an adjunct professor for a few years until the kids came along.

She is quite conservative, and usually the smartest person in any given room.

She's getting her BS in Biology with a concentration in biomedical sciences, so hopefully this guy is in the minority of her profs.

taking mostly computer science classes politics rarely came up
my intro to politics class was likely taught by a liberal, but the only thing I ever remember him saying that could be considered one sided was early on when he told us he worked in the office of MA's junior senator for a few years. He actually said junior senator and didn't name it. It was Kerry as Kennedy had died yet

he mentioned the NRA once in a positive way saying it was a well known example of a citizen lobbying organization and that groups like that are how common people can have their voices heard, by banding together with like minded people. I remember it because when he first mentioned NRA I was expecting him to bash it since he had worked for Kerry

there was one class though that was bad. I took an anthropology class that had a lib teacher. He wasn't too bad but his TAs used the internal usenet group (that we had to read due to assignments getting posted there) to spew all sorts of anti-American BS especially after 9/11. I made a point on the end of semester review questionaire to complain about their bullshit

No, I've even joked with some colleagues that they hired me to skew their demographics back towards moderate. I'm not shy about my politics, and neither are my colleagues. Mostly, we agree to disagree and enjoy drinking beers together.

It does take a willingness to listen to others. People in college (students AND faculty) like to talk about themselves. We have some real loons in our department, but we also have some real down to earth folks. You'd be surprised who many of them are not liberal. It probably also helps that I teach at a conservative, but not religious, university.

Even the "I'D NEVER OWN A GUN" people ask me to take them shooting. And I do, because that's how you change someone's thinking.

Sorry if this doesn't fit anyone's narrative.

Oh and I forgot to mention, in her Psych textbook there is a blurb on gun control that says areas with more lax gun laws experience a higher rate of gun deaths. Source? An article in the NYT.

The prof said they would be discussing gun control at length.

I see conservative professors everyday..........The reason you don't hear about them much is because they do their job without looking for fanfare. ...........The liberal ones that talk shit about their midget minded beliefs get all the attention and press.....Which is good because it shows what idiots they are. Another thing you don't hear much about, especially from the liberal press is, lot's of colleges are having problems because big money donors are stopping their support for them.

They both kept it quite (I only found out one week before I graduated).

50/50 from who I had in college.

All of my economics, business, and engineering profs were all openly conservative. My art, history, and science profs were the exact opposite.
