EDIT: more like assembled in the USA of domestic and foreign parts, the malt I used was from the UK, the yeast, grain, and hops were from the USA

It an old union rule, going back to the Swedish siege of Copenhagen in 1658 - Danish workers are only allowed to make left-handed gloves.

As an aside - if China and WalMart were clever, they would create an independent country (controlled by china) inside mainland china (like Swaziland, Lesotho, etc in South Africa), and call it something like "Unified Socialist Alliance".  Then, they could put "Made in U.S.A." labels on all the shit they make and send to WalMart.

The Japanese allegedly did that back in the 20's/30's to sell cheap tools to Britain. They called a small village 'Birmingham' and started selling tools stamped 'Made in Birmingham'… Birmingham being the centre of the quality British tool trade at the time.

Now 'Made in Japan' is the hallmark of quality…

Andy

Importers pull that shit all the time - Harbor Freight sells tools by "Pittsburgh Forge" (or Pittsburgh Tools or something like that) and they sure as hell are not from Pennsylvania.

I was a little surprised at some of the European brands that have "gone Chinese" - at the rate they are going they will own the planet (planet's debt) in a few decades... pretty slick strategy (the value of patience and thinking in terms longer than fiscal quarters)

About 85 percent of it is.

The forks, shocks, carbs and electrics come from Japan.

If it's fuel injected then it's made by Delphi (USA company), although it comes from Japan.

The wheels come from Australia (if they are cast).

A lot of little shit comes from elsewhere.

It's 100% ASSEMBLED in America though.

Actually Pittsburgh Forge used to be an American company.
They sold out to the Chinese back in the early 90's when they could not afford to modernize their manufacturing plant.
It did not meet EPA or OSHA standards, plus they could not afford to pay their union workers.

They sold the company and the contents of the plant to the Chinese.
The Chinese set up the plant and now it pollutes their enviroment and they use child slave labor to turn out cheap Chinese made crap instead of expensive American made crap.

This is depressing. I buy British goods because I appreciate their unwavering support for this country and thought by buying something Danish (Laksen) I was doing the same for another good country (who didn't cut & run like the Phrench bastards) and I got a pair of gloves which were 50% Chinese.

"Japan renamed a town 'Usa' so that they could legitimately stamp their exports 'Made in USA."

Years ago General Motors used to assemble vehicles in Canada leaving off the air cleaner, hub caps etc. After they entered the U.S. the air cleaner and other parts were attached and the vehicles were labeled "Final Assembly Point - USA" misleading people into thinking the vehicle was manufactured in the U.S.
