I never liked that gun. Always felt so ungainly and unnatural in my hand.

No 26 , but i love my 27. And its best with tiny 9 rd mag. If i can shoot the .40 with no pinky rest accurately , why does GD struggle woth a 9mm in same config? I have small jands too.

G26 was my carry gun for years. When the 43 and 43x came out, my 26 never saw the light of day again.
Its obsolete. Too fat, and the grip is too short. If you use a longer mag with an x-grip, you may as well be carrying a G19. The 26 is like a CRT monitor or a VCR. It still works every bit as good as it did when it was made. There are newer products that do the job better. |

God's children are not for sale.

The ability to transition from a G17 or G19 for whatever reason and still use the same magazines would make the G26 a better choice as a backup gun.

If I carried 9mm I'd option for a 43X. But since I carry mega recoil hand punishing .40, the G27 works for me.

I bought one and didnt like it. Traded in on a glock19. Pocket carry a cheapo keltec. I just dont do well with a big heavy gun hanging on me.

But in all seriousness, I love my 26, and with all the many options out there, the 26 is still my primary choice for most situations day to day when not at work. It was one of my earlier handguns i bought, and probably one of the first I started to carry, so we have a special relationship! |

Until Glock releases their own 15rnd 43x…..the 26 will be better.

Obsolete? Hardly.
Reliable, shoots where you point it. In the right pockets with the right holster the G26 works. https://www.simplyrugged.com/ecommerce/Force-Options-Pocket-Holster-Leather-Concealment-Holster.cfm?item_id=2426&parent=669 I prefer this model, because it has a place to carry some folding money, cards. Sort of "this is all I have on me" offering in case of a jacking. If that doesn't work, another dip into the pocket produces a different kind of money. LOL. This model has a "hook" below the trigger guard, stabilizes it in the pocket and prevents it from coming out on draw. Rob also makes one called Pocket Protector AND one for SA pistols with optics. |

Absolutely not. For one, "much thicker and bulkier". Is it? I don't think so. It has the exact same profile as the G43 it's often claimed to have been replaced by and is only a quarter inch thicker.
For that you get: -Full interchangeability with all 9mm double stack Glock mags. Want to carry a flush fit 10rd in the gun for a small convenient package and keep a 17rd in your pocket for a reload? No problem. Keep a 33rd stickazine in the glovebox incase shit gets too real? Absolutely. Have a PCC at home that conveniently uses the same mags as your pistol? Sure. How many of the micro single+ stacks give you that? What's the highest cap mag offered on a P365, hellcat, or G43? Hell you can't even use a 43x mag as a plus-capacity reload in a 43. The hell was Glock thinking? Sure a 43x/48 can start to challenge a 19 for mag capacity. With aftermarket mags of spotty reliability and an ever-lengthening mag extensions. So now you ask yourself, what's easier for you to conceal, a longer grip or a fatter grip? -Much more comfortable to shoot for most people. Most accounts I've read or people I've talked to say they shoot the 26 better than the 43 or 43x, and oftentimes better than even the 19 or 17. Once you get over the hanging pinky, or just add a pinky rest to your mag, the double-stack subcompact is the best grip shape Glock ever made IMO. We didn't suddenly negate the laws of physics and make tiny guns in full-power service calibers not suck to shoot. A Glock 26 is just alot easier to shoot than a 43 for not that much of a size increase. -The double stack, 9mm Glock is still one of, if not the top-dog service pistol. Having a small concealable version of it that feels and shoots like a full size service pistol and accepts all the myriad of accessories that a regular Glock service pistol takes is definitely worth an extra 1/4" to me. As for the light rail, I doubt it would seriously increase the 26's popularity that much. Plenty of good quality light options already out there for the 26, that frankly fit much cleaner, slimmer and more purpose-made than some universal light bolted to a rail. Not much stopping you from putting a light on your 26 if you want a light on it. I can't imagine there are that many people out there that would have bought a 26 but didn't purely because of "But how am I gonna clamp a generic light to it?". I'm sure a few diehard Glock guys would pick it up just because new Glock. But otherwise, if they updated it with a rail and discontinued the smooth-chin frames I doubt sales numbers change much. Personally I prefer the smooth-chins. |

If a hoodlum ends up staring down the barrel of my Glock 26 I’m sure he can just say “But it’s obsolete!” and this will magically transfer the pee from running down his legs to mine.

Back before all the micro pistols came out I had a 19 and decided to buy a 26. That opened up my 19 to be a more ‘combat’ gun with a light. Since then I’ve had the 19 Acro cut and run a Steiner MPS. I still carry the 19 if I’m wearing the right clothes, but that 26 with a flush mag gets carried a lot too. It’s also nice to know I have a 19 round reload in my pocket.
If I had it to do over today I would probably get the 43x, but I don’t feel especially inhibited by the 26. I carry appendix and I’m pretty tall with a 44” chest and a 32” waist. I just don’t see a 1/4” difference in thickness would make all that much difference in concealment. |

+2 mag in the gun g17 mag reload is a solid combo. I have tlr6 and hackathorn night sights on mine. I've carried it a lot, I'll admit not much since I got a 43x. I'm keeping both my 26 and 17 for the zombie apocalypse though.

The G26 is a wonderful pistol. The fact that it accepts any Glock 9mm mags is a huge bonus. I sold my Gen 5 G26 to get into a 1911. Now I am missing it from my rotation so will likely buy a Gen. 5 MOS version.
I also recommend the G30 in .45 with 11 rounds and expandable to 14 (G21X). IMO the G26 and the G30 are Glocks most accurate pistols. I shoot both very well. ![]() ![]() |

It's a tiny gun that I can shoot better than my Glock 17. Not sure what witch craft causes that. I kinda miss mine. I carry a G43X Now, but the G26 was never a bad choice.

I have a G27, I like the fact I can carry it with the 9 round mag in it but have the G22 15 round mags as reloads. granted its not my regular carry piece, its in my work truck to put on if I end up working in a sketchy area.

Bought many Glocks, but always sold them because the grip didn't fit my hand right, and as a result, I shot them like crap. Except for the 26. Little thing is a laser. That "ball" that bumps out the back of the back strap just locks it into my palm and the sights actually stay still and don't "jump" when the trigger breaks like with all my other Glocks. I prefer it with the short 2-finger grip configuration as well. Pinky extensions are gay.
I also bought a Hellcat earlier this year, and while it was a VERY well-built and quality pistol (*ahem* Sig P365 *ahem*), it just didn't feel substantial enough in my hand because the grip was too small. The 26 just feels feels better, and I'm more comfortable shooting it. The only gripe with the 26 or any gen3 Glock for that matter is that they don't eject brass very consistently. My H&K's, on the other hand, can make a neat pile in one area. I'm going to be buying H&Ks micro compact as soon as it hits the shelves, but since it's still vaporware for now, I'm going to keep on rockin' the baby Glock. Far from obsolete and still the gold standard for a CCW, IMHO. |
|
|
Would I carry my G26 over my P365x with 14+ using magguts and a x-macro 17rd as backup? Plus EPS carry? No.
Everything is smaller and more concealable. Is it obsolete? Hell no. Run the factory 12rd mag and a 15 or 17rd spare mag. Or the G18 mag in your prison wallet like I hear is popular. |
|
|
I have a 27. I would rather carry a 365 or hellcat.

I think there are many better options now.
I do feel a little bad for Kahr, they had the market cornered for awhile. |

WTF make a gun become "obsolete"? Do people some how become immune to the round it shoots over time and no longer die?

I had a Gen3 26 for many years. Also had a Gen4 19. I shot the 26 better with one finger dangling for some reason. Also if you put extensions on your 26 then just get a 19. Now I only have a G43 and a G19X and I'm much happier with both roles.

Got a 26 in 2011 when I got my Florida ccw permit. Great in a tshirt and shorts. Wore it for like 10 vacations in a crossbreed super tuck. Finally got ccw in MD last year thanks to Bruen. Bought a 43x and carried it for the past year. Now I go back and forth between the 43x and the 26. Still love the 26. Might even love it more than the 43x.

Would you rank it as good a choice as a P365/Hellcat/43x or worse? If worse, how much worse? Would having a light rail change anything? View Quote The Glock 26 is not obsolete for three reasons: 1) Unlike the “slim” Glocks the G26 is reliable. 2) A light rail is irrelevant on sub compact guns. The small lights / lasers on subcompacts are not very useful. 3) The grip of the “slim” guns (even the P365 which is reliable) can be too small for some people’s hands. |

I always disliked them. There’s far better options compared to the G26 imo but use what works for ya. Even with my dislike for them the fact they have mag compatibility with the 19 and 17 makes them not obsolete.
