Just breaking on CNN....the Pentagon is reporting that sophisticated explosive weapons were located on the Iranian border. They believe these were manufactured in Iran with the intent to supply to insurgents. Now we know where the shaped charges used to blow up our vehicles and people are coming from

If so, this just moves us one step closer to striking Iran.

We need to stop playing with these fucksticks and drop the hammer. If teaching them respect is beyond hope, teach them fear.

the problem with teaching them a lesson is that the spanking would hit the younger Persian population in the .mil and not the geriatric Arabic Ayatollah's in the .gov.  A number of the Persians that I've met in DFW say that there would be a coup detat in Tehran as soon as the first tank thread crosses the border.

My gut instinct is that the CIA & SF are werking OT inside Iran to accomplish that right now.

You are correct.  It will only take a small "push" to get the government overthrown.  The hope is that we don't walk up on their deep underground nuclear bunker just in time to see one of the old ayatollahs hitting the red button.

one can only hope...

perhaps a rods of god approach...

but my guess is iran's wonderful ayatollahs aint goin anywhere...

and bush has spent his 'capital' in iraq.

and iran knows this.. and will bide their time..

shaped charges in iraq = stingers in afghanistan and the soviets didna declare war on us...

perhaps if we hadn't done iraq we could do iran.. my opinion iran is more dangerous than iraq was... but unless they do something outrageous we won't do anything about them... and if the next prez is a socialist-democratic we will prolly bend over for them to make the screwing easier...

If it came to war, could we realistically count on the Iranian people rising up? I don't think I'd wanna be totally relying on that to happen.

I just worry that we are spread too damn thin to handle Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan.....as well as be prepared to defend our homeland and other interests. Other than air strikes, I'm just no sure what our current military could muster.

I'll tell you one thing, it's times like these that make me wish we had those 8 US Army divisions we deactivated in the 1990's back in active duty again.

I honestly think using Tac nukes would be appropriate. These peoploe respect brute force. Anything less wis a slap in the face to them. We should use the small yield Kt range nukes like there is no tomorrow.

Enemy batallion in open? BOOM Parking lot.

A town or city that harbors terrorists like FAlluja. Ransack it then flatten it witha  nuke. Remind the inhabitants that if it were not for the terrorists and their silence, they would have a town. Betcha wish you turned them away earlier eh?

WTF?

Last I checked, Austria wasn't run by religious fanatics who teach the death and destruction of Americans. Austria didn't sponsor, condone, facilitate, advocate, partner, plot, execute, and enable terrorism.

It may be possible that material sold to Iraq for the military by Austria was stolen or misused to fabricate an IED, but Austria doesn't manufacture IEDs. Terrorists build IEDs.

Improvised.
Explosive.

Exactly my point...just because a munition ended up being used against us doesnt mean that the country that made it is directly responsible.  Stuff in that part of the world isnt locked up as securely as in Western countries.  Hell, Russian gets entire armored vehicles stolen and sold on the black market.

Just bomb their Nuclear Facilities, Power and Water Treatment Plants, along with their Refineries, Oil Storage Facilities and Oil Pipelines.

Mine their Ports, and set up a Naval Blockade off shore. Pretty soon they'll take the hint and back off.
