How many people escaped from the West to the East? I am sure there was a lot...I mean modern American progressives always talk about how great communism is..I am sure people that were that physically close to it were pining for the opportunity to live in that utopia.

Unfortunately, the straight front, angled rear is the same on the Type 2 and the STG. The hood on the STG that covers the front sight post is a little larger and more bulbous, but it's really hard to see at this angle. I'm going with AK based on the hole in the FSB. I'm not aware of any STGs with that feature. |

When I was in the 6th grade I dated a girl who with her family had "snuck" illegally across the "Wall".
They crossed through the fence wires at night, durring a cloudy storm, at great danger, the danger of death. I had several conversations with her father about life under the Communist Russians, they were Cecks. It made a life lasting impression on me.. A couple of years ago I went to Germany, [actually I have been there twice], and I styed in a hotel that was on the East German [Russian controled side]. The ladies that worked in the hotel Loved Americans, they told me it was the Americans, that caused the fall of the wall, and the LIBERATION of their country. Again their stories of life under Communist rule, made me even more Glad I was born in the USA. All the people I met there were very friendly, very nice. I was suprised at how many of them spoke very good English. I went to where the "Wall" actually ran through that part of the country. They still have the guard towers set up there as a museum, and as a reminder... I was very impressed with the beauty, and cleanliness of the country. |
