[Last Edit: 8/18/2005 4:52:44 PM EDT by Langadune]
I picked up a copy passing time at lunch today (Sept issue) and came across some interesting tidbits in the Gun Talk section:

In the last 10 years there has been more than 40 pieces of anti-gun legislation in the U.S.

A recent poll revealed (to everyone's surprise) the most chiefs of polices and sheriffs in the country support civilian overship of firearms and believe crime would actually decline if CCW was increased.

England is now considering banning KITCHEN KNIVES. Experts say there is no reason for civilians to have pointy knives and they can get by just fine with shorter, rounded off knives.

It is hard to imagine the stupidity one must acquire to believe banning kitchen knife, or even just dissarming folks would make them any safer.
Stupidity knows no bounds.

This surprised everyone because the Fraternal Order of Police is vehemently anti-gun. I have yet to understand why they are allowed to speak for everyone as a whole when they are a left-wing organization in a job that seems to be mostly composed of right-wing people.

Many US cities have 2" or 3" limits for knives in public places.

That means that if you buy a 4" paring knife at a kitchen store, you have technically broken the law by the time you take it home.

Yup- Boston has a ban on folding knives with blades over 3", if I remember correctly. That'll save some lives...

Selective enforcement.

Yup. Terrorists go to Boston to hijack planes too. Something about the place is attractive to them.
