Those guys were bad ass. The final episode was a real tear jerker and really showed some of the crazy shit the PJs do.
Like drilling directly into a patients bone to deliver IV fluids while in a Blackhawk. |

They were doing that on a Green Beret Medic that had his right leg blown off just below the hip and they had to go to the left leg to give him blood directly into the bone. I was shocked and highly impressed. Was a tear jerker moment watching the other Green Berets say good bye to him on the chopper. Good show. Those Reaper crews are kinda badass as well. |

Other than the cool guy gear, cool guy helos, and some drugs they're really no different than a well trained flight medic.
Unless of course they actually do CSAR, then they're on point. |

When I go into the hospital for surgery and they ask if I mind if there are observers my standard response is "NO!" H
However, if you have a former military doctor, medic, corpsman, or PJ on the crew that wants the observer there, and they ask, I give 'em what they want. I figure if these guys were all willing to die to save people, the least I can do is give them some small thing in return in recognition of all they were willing to do. |

After the IO is placed the initial push of fluid is brutal, if the PT is out cold it's not really an issue but a conscious person would tell us the pain scale goes through the roof. Lidocaine can be initially pushed to help control pain. The actual bone drilling I have been told isn't bad at all... |
