Left foot, big toe.  Last time I had one of these (basic trng '87) they numbed up my toe then cut the whole toenail off.

Once the numbness went away it felt like.....someone cut my toenail off

I'm not looking forward to this again

ETA:  Suffered the pain long enough, went to the Dr. this morning and had it removed.  Damn thing still hurts though.

I get 'em every now and then, trick is I have to cut the corner of the ingrown part at 45 degree angle, but I can't cut the ingrown part out, so I just cut what I can and rip the 45 degree cut corner off and it'll rip the ingrown part out with it, then wait 3-4 months and deal with it again.

Go to the pharmacy and get some tincture of iodine.  You will have to ask for it from the pharmacist.  Apply to the skin around the ingrown nail several times a day.  It will kill the top layers of skin.  As new layers grow up to replace them it will carry the toe nail piece up and out.

If you file the very top of your nail, meaning the surface...
your nail will grow inwards, instead of outwards.

Read about this on a forum and tried it. I'm convinced it works, at least enough to prevent ingrowns.

Peroxide and start digging it out by prying it up, oh its gonna hurt, but once you do it'll feel SO much better
