College Station 110 miles inland. Hopefully it will be down to atleast a Cat1 once it gets here. Almost all tracks put the eye to the west of us.

However, just heard DFW could get 80mph gusts. It might be a 2 or 3 even this far inland.

Beaumont. About 30 miles inland and 20 feet above sea level. Probably nowhere near where the eye will make landfall, but it still looks like a windy, rainy weekend ahead. They've ordered mandatory evacuations of coastal areas and asked that the schools close Thursday and Friday.

Northwestern edge of Pearland. But I will be riding it out at work in the Texas Med Center. Looks like we get to test the new flood doors.

trdvet - Are you in the Med Center proper or the Med Ctr area?

I just got a call from one of my Marine buddies in Houston. He's driving into Austin tonight and wanted to let me know he'd be in town.

He said the traffic was already horrible in H-town, and there were gas lines at several of the stations.

You guys driving out of the area stay safe.

Austin Here. The weather guys say it will hit a Port Lavaca and Austin will have hurricane force winds.

I prepared for the winds by tieing 10000 rounds of ammo to the roof and I am loaded for looters.

Good luck everyone.

That wind map shows landfall as a Cat2 Hurricane. I haven't seen that predicted anywhere else. Where did you get it?

It's from crownweather.com. Before they updated it this afternoon, it had Rita makig landfall as a Category 4 storm.

It's done using Global Tracks software.
