Is it even possible to drive from Florida to Texas along I-10 or any other reasonable road?

I need to move my stuff from Miami and Ocala to Laredo. Needless to say, Katrina put a bit of a damper on that when she washed out I-10 (assuming the pics I saw were I-10). Any ideas how I can do this without having to detour through Alaska?

ETA: I'd be doing this in a small U-Haul truck....

Yes...business as usual, just a little more traffic.

I am sure you've already thought of this, but every day you wait improves the chances that the road will be in better shape and traffic will be lighter..

Can you put it off a couple of weels?

(BTW, I-10 runs right by me. Why don't you come by?)

Oh, I will. This won't be until at least early October.

Why, thank you! Yes, I would most definitely love to finally meet you in person! I'm flattered!

I'll let you know as soon as I have a decent date. First one's on me!

Seriously?

Damn! What film clip did I see then that showed an entire elevated highway over a body of water wiped away in many places? I thought it was I-10 over the Achafalaya!

Parts of 90 were damaged this time. I-10 got hit by Ivan. The Escambia bridge in Pensacola has both spans open but one side is 3500ft of steel grating where it fell last year.
