I do, been through enough "oh shits" after a lightening hit. Lost a TV, a DVD player, receiver, entire computer system and a cordless phone on one hit a few years back.

Insurance pays, but so will you if it keeps happening when your insurance company spikes your rates or drops you.

I'll turn off the heat or A/C depending which one's in use to avoid the start up surge, sometimes power doesn't just come on, it'll come on, then off, then on, then off, then finally on
