What is the best LEGAL weapon to take on a flight?

What is the best LEGAL weapon to have on your person that would be ok in most European countries?

Preferably something that would be normally not thought of as a weapon but could be one.

I was thinking about a small screwdriver that has been sharpened. (Not for the plane, however)

Good idea, but I'm looking for something that is smaller. I don't see walking all over Morocco with a cane.

I might get one for certain areas though.

Laptop computer. A rugged one, like an IBM ThinkPad.

Folding utility knife. Legality varies greatly from place to place.
