What if we devised a tax amnesty bill that forgave 100% taxes for those who have not paid taxes at all for >5 years in a row, 50% of taxes for those who have cheated 2-5 years, and 25% for those who cheated 2 years or less? That is how much sense the “progressive rewards” make for those who have violated our laws. The people who have been here illegally for a longer period of time should not be granted greater benefits for longer violations. The illegals are by definition income tax evaders. Last time I checked, that was a serious crime - a felony.

I personally have relatives still waiting and applying for citizenship in this country. I see no reason they are less deserving than the 20 million who cut in line. How about the 60+ million starving people in Africa or the estimated 320+ million starving in India? Both of those countries have sustained humanitarian crises going on, Mexico does not. Are those populations any less worthy? India even has one of the largest English speaking populations in the world - seems like they would be better more qualified to get special treatment.
