What would you do?
Should make for some interesting conversation |
Gorge myself on porn because in about 12 hours I'm gonna be a little busy.
Load up on water and foodstuffs and position myself to take possession of a newly
Unneeded brinks truck. Plow right thru crowds, room to carry supplies and teammates, and Is bulletproof, with gun ports a ready. Ditch the unneeded cash. Hope I can find one with a trailer hitch..... |
+1. I need to know If I'm the only one who knows. If so I have a lot to do in 12 hours.
You and a few select others hear it. The general population doesn't know for another 8 hours
Go to the supermarket and run every credit card to the max. I'd say gun store (or WalMart) for ammo, but I'm good there. I don't have the option of running, so it's just a matter of time before I'm dinner.
Download as much porn as possible. Meanwhile, start to pack up and get ready to go.
What kind of house modifications would you make?
Personally, i'd start growing plants asap and move to a relatives house as I live in an apartment |
Probably barracade the windows with metal rods so I could still see out side and kill some zombies with something sharp to save on ammo.

That was an AWESOME question. Can't believe no one asked that question before.
If I'm the only one who knows....make my move. Grab my dog, love ones, and find head for water. I live in Illinois, so plenty of fresh water. All I need is a boat, the surround area has a potential 6 million biters, the water has none. Prefer a boat with sails. Load it to food and ammo...and set sail. In whatever is left of the 12 hours, Id try to purchase more food, ammo, Illinois has a wait period for guns, so buying guns is out (getting arrested would be a death sentence). Buy some solar panels, and toilet paper a new generator, reload supplies and as much fuel as I can get. I can raid abandoned homes up and down the great lakes for supplies. Boat only works in the summer. Winter would be a disaster. Would search out for a abandoned island, or something. I could also fill by box truck with supplies and put a plow on front and head for the country. 12 hour I could get to Texas, or Canada, Nebraska, Florida, etc. If the world is in full panic mode, close the door and start blasting Zeds. |

Go to the hardware store to buy supplies to board my house up and fortify all entries and exits. Buy shitloads of water and canned food. Fill any and every container I have with gas. Try to get back home and get it all done before the POC.

Two chicks at the same time!
![]() THEN, eat a good Omelette (probably won't be able to get one for a few years after Z-Day), load all mags, assemble a crew, and bug in. Or, if I was on my own...get to the nearest municipal airport and steal a plane! Just find a beach house with manaul draw up staircase so you can sneak in annd out if need be.
Grocery store, gas station, load the guns and what I have at home and head the the house in the Texas hill country. 2000 acres on a hill top surrounded by a 8 ft heigh game fence. Not all 2000 acres are mine but that shouldnt be a problem.

Throw my splitting axe, my forest axe, by two machetes, my fixed-blade knives, my crossbow, and my samurai sword into the back of my truck.
Guns are icky and attract the walkers, so I won't be having any of that nonsense. |

sounds like a normal day, I routinely work as a substitute teacher in Cook County IL.

We are pretty set on a zombie plan, so 12 hours notice is pretty nice.
Also need to know if they're sprinters or shamblers. The biggest difference would be in what I procure. Basics: Notify my SHTF crew that the fan is turning and someone is sitting on the pot. They can help with the preps as they roll in. Get the wife and my folks and their 2 SUVs to the local supercenter and grocery store. Clean them out of first aid, sanitation supplies, canned goods, TP, candles and batteries. Take my truck and trailer to the local steel yard, lumber store and farm supply. Leave with lots of metal, lots of wood and lots of welding, building and fencing supplies. Guns and ammo: Sprinters - all the shotguns and shotgun ammo I can find. Secondary would be all the 556 and mags I could find. Shamblers - pretty much the exact opposite, but with 22lr rifles and ammo as secondary. I'll be mildly pessimistic and say after all that I only have about 6 hours left and only 3 of my "team" has shown up. First priority is getting the house secured. Doors and windows on the first floor get blocked. Garage doors get disabled and I would run a strip of metal down the inside trim of the track. weld it to the track and attach it to the wall. The basement stairs entrance gets barricaded and then concreted over, the barricade in case it doesn't dry and cure in time. Given the time and man power, I would tear down the stairs to the second floor of the house as well. Using an upstairs window as an egress route, the second task would be getting our chickens moved indoors. They can live in the separate but attached garage. And for the time being, they can live in whatever boxes I put them in. Can build a coop later. Again being pessimistic, I should have about 3 hours left. Just enough time to get the gates secured, shore up the existing fence line and settle in for a long winters zombie night. In the event of shamblers, I would probably weave 3-4 strands of very loose barb wire between as many random fence posts as I could get in the ground around the field the house is sitting in. After that its all over but the waiting. Any remaining time can be devoted to sex, liquor and TV. ETA: would also teach son to say "zombie" instead of "wombie"... Because really, who has time for being adorable when the end is coming? |
I am decently stocked on food, water, and gas but given the chance I would definitely get more.
A pharmacy run would be nice, but too risky. Call my family and warn them. Board up my house. I already have the materials. House is brick and all my doors are metal. I only have 7 windows but I do have an arcadia door in the back which worries me. Heading for the hills would be last resort. I am only 5 minutes from thousands of miles of desert, but my SUV is small and I have a wife and daughter to worry about. We would stand a much better chance defending home rather than run. |
Let my extended family know that they need to drop everything and get to my farm RFN.
Stock up on last-minute "luxury" foods that aren't in our stockpiles. Otherwise, we're good. |
Hookers and blow?
Actually, I believe I would requisition a certain large yacht nearby. |
Wipe the oil as best I could off of my favorite 1911, softly cry about the decision to try the 2nd round of chemo. Then I would test the durability of my skull against a round of 45 acp....

Plywood and 2x4s for the first floor windows. Maybe even some quickcrete between the layers. fortify doors. Fortify stable. Kind of torn on allowing the horses to roll out in the pasture or stall them. Mags are loaded, -2. Contact family to put emergency plan in to effect. break out stored ammo. top off fuel cans and vehicles.

Get everything I need from the store for the next couple of weeks. Then tell everyone else. The faster and wider the panic spreads and people off each other, the less will be infected and require shooting.
It really depends a lot on the enemy If they are the fast running super zeds from I am legend, or WWZ, I'm suck starting a .300 win mag. Otherwise, I'm good for a multiple day or week long range session against the ones from Dawn of the dead. If they are the pathetic zeds from the walking dead, then I'd buy all the swords from the nearest nerd convention, and would probably manage to eek out some semblance of life worth living. If the clowns on the show made it through, how hard could it be? |
Spend an hour at the store buying a few things and then take a nap. I'll be tired later and I might as well rest while I can.
12 hours isn't enough to take significant steps beyond anything I already have on site. Quoted:

30 round mags ![]() View Quote I have plenty of those. twenty rounders too. Few 90 round drums from pre-'94 and ammo to load them all up. Most of the 30 and 20 rounders are already loaded because I'm coming off a summer shooting season and I tend to keep them loaded up for range trips. One less thing to deal with when range time is tight For that matter I have a whole duffle of mags I have no idea what gun they go to anymore. |
