If you could push a button and make an entire race or group disappear...would you?

If you had the ability and the authority to completely eradicate an entire race of people, or a specific group of people no matter how large or small (i.e., an entire ethnic and/or religious group, or a specific group who held to a certain belief [an example would be the Hollywood elite from the earlier thread]) from the face of the earth, in the belief that it would be for the betterment of mankind, with no strings attached, knowing that God commanded Israel to utterly destroy it's enemies under the old testament, but that this is no longer His command under the new testament, would you do it? Democrats, Republicans, liberals, conservatives, the rich, the poor, Whites, Blacks, Hispanics, Indians, Europeans, Asians, Arabs, Christians, Islamics, Jews, Catholics, politicians, homosexuals, evangelists, murderers, death row inmates, telemarketers, governments, armies, countries, [u]any group[/u]. Do you feel the world would be better off if a particular group did not exist?

What's in your soul? Would you be capable or incapable? Would it be right or wrong? Do you secretly wish this even though you publicly denounce it? Are all groups and races equal? Are all worth preserving? Would you be a "Hitler"? The many groups and various aspects with which they relate to tend to give this topic the impression of being complicated, but the question remains simple:

Would you do it?

I'd have to wipe out those pesky Greys. Between abducting me out duck blinds and shoving anal probes were anal probes go and the brain implants and losing hours and hours out the day...I've decided that they definately need to be eliminated. Maybe that will make those voices go away......[%|]

Oh, this could get fun.
Ok, I have the power to make a group, one group, any group, just vanish.
I will assume I have the power to completely subjugate two groups, and make four more do my bidding, and influence eight more towards my point of view.
I won't make anybody vanish unless they get real out of hand, popping nukes and other annoying distractions.
I would set the antigunners and the NeoNazis against each other. Thus, both of those groups will leave us normal people alone. I would persuade the 88s that the antigunners want to take their guns because of their unpopular political opinion, and I would persuade the antis that the 88s want to kill them all because of their unpopular political opinion, and are jumping on their motorcycles and coming with all means of guns, knives, brickbats and two by fours. The anti's would legislate the 88s out of existance, and the 88s would kill all the antis. Job done.
Then, I would compell the NAACP and the KKK organizations to sue each other, both lawsuits stating that hate groups should not have any legal rights. Both suits get the rubber stamp. Job done.

Taking the question seriously, and if I had the ability to do so...I would say no. I am no where near qualified to make that kind of decision, and I would be demonstrating arrogance in it's highest form to think I were qualified. I'm sure the world would be a better place w/o a few groups, but that’s just my opinion and nothing more.

During the Israelites day of atonement, two goats of the same qualities were chosen for the ceremony. One was chosen to be the sacrifice and the other was chosen to be lead into the wilderness. The ONLY way the choice was made was by "casting lots" allowing God to determine. Man was no where near righteous enough or qualified to decide. This is just an example of how man was not even qualified enough to decide what [i]animal[/i] was to die.

The only way a people or a nation was blotted out was by a righteous decision from God. To make that kind of a decision and carry it out is to fall into the same arrogant delusion that satan has: that he could dethrone God, make decisions like God, rule like God and be worshiped as God....and we know satans fate dont we?

Actually i've been playing with idea but never got around to it. Been to busy buy guns. The old fashion way was always more interesting.

Huh...do you really think there's a gene that makes people go rabidly anti-gun? If so, it's probably associated closely with the reasoning and logic centers of the brain, resulting in the emotional responses overpowering any reason or logic based responses.

The idea of genetic weapons is, quite frankly, both intriguing and downright terrifying.

However, genetic therapy (a closely related concept) will in time make our lives longer and healthier.

I predict there will be a time when you can take a simple treatment that will cause all of your teeth to fall out and be replaced with a brand new, freshly grown set, including the option of NOT growing any new wisdom teeth.

Or imagine regrowing a lost limb or having old scars heal completely.

It's research that will be worth it, even if there is potential for abuse.
