I really like my M-4, but I wish it was a little more reliable. If I can go to the range and have only 5 stoppages, then it was a good day.

Anyways, my gun would be have an 18" barrel, chambered in something between 5.45 - 7.62, hopefully light, select fire, a fixed 6x scope, an over under shotgun combo. And a couple other things that I can't think of right now.

What would your ultimate gun be? Go wild, NFA rules DO NOT apply...

Something is REALLY wrong with that.  If it's a factory gun, I would ship it back to the manufacturer so fast it would make their heads spin.  If it's a frankengun, I'd have a gunsmith check it out - the number of stoppags (ESPECIALLY under range conditions) should be somewhere between zero and none!

I'm working on my ultimate gun. The gun exists already but not all the components that I want exist. Yes I'm talking about the AR. How can it not be the ultimate gun. If you have one lower an 12 different uppers(in different cals.) you have 12 different guns. A gun for every occasion.

I have two "perfect" rifles and I'm approaching completing the third.

CQB carbine - Olympic Arms pre-ban with Bushmaster 14.5" ultra light barrel and phantom flash suppressor chrome/chrome. Sights - fixed back up iron sights and an Aimpoint Comp ML.

Designated Marksmen Rifle - Armalite post-ban with Bushmaster 20" ultra light barrel chrome/chrome. Sights carry handle mounted compact ACOG (TA50-4).

Precission Weapon Remington 700 VLS in .308 with a varmint weight barrel. Sights Leupold Vari-X III mil-dot tactical.

-- still working on the Remington as I'm likely to change the factory issues laminated stock to an aluminim bedded aftermarket one.

The semi-autos have had hundreds of rounds run thought them and I'm still busy sorting out my 100+ magazines to see which are good enough to bet the farm on.

I believe it has something to do with the mags more than the gun. I need to test the mags.

It exists...

The SAKO RK95, make mine in 7.62*39.  Be sure it has a siderail, so I can add go between a 4 power inverted post (like a SUIT) optic, and a top of the line hybrid Night/Thermo scope.  A suppressor would be icing on the cake.

Ditto to what DKProf said.

I only have one AR15. Bought it new last year. It's a 20" A2 Bushmaster. I have 10 30-round mags for it now, including two "range" mags. But with well over 1,000 rounds fired -- I have had NOT ONE SINGLE PROBLEM so far. I can't imagine that an M4 would be much different.

Holland & Holland 600 Nitro, custom fit to me. Would include 2 extra sets of barrels in .500/450 NE, 470 NE and with travel case, and a 100 rounds of 600 Nitro ammo(life time supply!)

With that I would be happy.

That's usually it - and if not that, perhaps the ammo.

Well I have my ultimate rifle. The only thing I would like to have now is a AR10,458 Socom or a G36.
