No, no he is not.  He is a good blues player who incorporated blues into heavier rock tunes.  That doesn't make him a pioneer.  Jimi Hendrix was a pioneer, he discovered a completely new genre of music and style of guitar.









You can say the exact same thing about Hendrix.  





Do you realize that Eric Clapton was the guitar player in Cream?





Your argument is that there is nothing pioneering about the guitar work in this song, bro?  Released in 1967.
