To be fair, I suspect that a lot of black powder revolvers could handle it if the cylinder was replaced with one that could handle the pressures of a .44 magnum.
The cylinder is that which has to handle the vast majority of the pressure. So it wouldn't surprise me at all if such a "wheel" exists.
(EDIT to insert: I've looked, and don't see ANY magnum class conversion cylinders. But I had to look because I didn't know for sure.)
AND, for a kid to say it at a gun shop, and be that close to being accurate, I'd give him the benefit of the doubt until I could get home and surf the internet.
