Just got back from the fun shop. Overheard some dumbass kid telling his friend that if you buy a .44 caliber black powder revolver, you can buy a new 'wheel' for it so it will shoot .44 mag.

It took 45 minutes for someone to put some validity to the kids statement and you insult the guy... Granted the kid in question hasn't been proven right but his idea is proven plausible. Its a kid... and it beats some of the oral diarrhea I've heard from guys trying to sell me things. Lighten up boss man...

To be fair, I suspect that a lot of black powder revolvers could handle it if the cylinder was replaced with one that could handle the pressures of a .44 magnum. The cylinder is that which has to handle the vast majority of the pressure. So it wouldn't surprise me at all if such a "wheel" exists. (EDIT to insert: I've looked, and don't see ANY magnum class conversion cylinders. But I had to look because I didn't know for sure.) AND, for a kid to say it at a gun shop, and be that close to being accurate, I'd give him the benefit of the doubt until I could get home and surf the internet. |
