Could be part of bipod as well, looks like is anodized and not parked, so I doubt is part of a rifle, my guess is that is probly a part out of a Harris (or clone) bipod.
Who knows?

aurang - you're right! I was at the range with assaultrifler today, and we all looked at that part without realizing it was actually from my rifle -- a JLD PTR-91. As soon as I saw your post, I pulled the gun back out of the safe and sure enough, there was a big hole where that part should be. Thanks for identifying it. ETA - this is only the second time I've had it out to shoot, so that's my excuse for not recognizing the part!

SteyrAUG is correct, bayo plug would be a better term, but cocking tube plug would be more correct.
