for a while and I considered a .50 BMG. The .50 is just too damned expensive and I don't anywhere in the DFW area where I could shoot. I have decided to go the Tromix route with the .458 SOCOM. I don't know if I could shoot the .458 anywhere, but I like the fact of having a big-balling semi-auto for half the price of a single shot .50.

My advice is to buy the .50 BMG. The .458 SOCOM will be around for quiet a while, where as the .50 BMG may be reclassified as a "destructive device" and subject to special permits (read fines). For pure fun and excitement the BMG cannot be beat. Even if you end up with a single shot rifle, its still a FIFTY. Ask yourself this, am I buying the .458 as a second choice to a .50? If you are, then you won't be happy until you have one.
