The first thing they asked me is if I was an Obama supporter. After saying that I wasn't, I felt kinda badly about it –– not that I feel badly regarding my voting decisions, but I don't like offending sweet old ladies who, in their own minds, are doing what they believe to be right and it would be pointless to spend any time trying to convince them otherwise.

I think the mentality is akin to cute college girls judging somebody entirely on what they wear.

That's left talk there.  Who cares if they get offended?

They've been alive long enough to get smart on these things.

But yeah, I know what you mean.

Maybe this religious establishment should have it's tax-exempt status reviewed.

Fuck them. They put their Hopes And Dreams into the known loser of Social Security and they'll vote for any DNC Cunt running for office solely on the presumption that the DNC loves the blue hairs and will keep the checks rolling in, whereas it's believed that the GOP will come to their home, shoot their poodle, ass rape them, burn the drapes and repo their TV.

I almost begin to sympathize on a certain level until I realize that they're willing to sell out my country to global socialism for a pittance of a paycheck that they're likely to continue receiving regardless of who is in the White House.

Tell them that you will vote for Obama when gas is $1.40 a gallon, the unemployment rate is 4%, and the deficit is down to $11 trillion.

Back in the day, Christian Socialism was a major political movement, not an oxymoron.

Agree with her in a way that would put doubt in her mind.

Tell her "most of the guys down at the Church of Satan are big Obama supporters.  And we'd love to campaign with you.  Perhaps you would like to attend our next Black Mass in order to convince those few fools who refuse to support our President"

Christian Democratic parties are pretty popular elsewhere in the world. Most aren't exactly socialist, but they don't support free markets either.

Religious groups in the US have usually leaned right, but after the late 1800s, it took the Cold War to crowd traditional populist religion in the US out of the left. The history of state religion in Europe probably moderated their populations' prediliction for extremes.
