I've been an AK guy for years.
I just built my first AR last month.  It's a stag carbine upper on an A2 delton lower.

I'm trying to warm up to the AR15, but I have to say the AK feels more natural when I handle it.
do I just need to get used to the "feel" of the AR15? or does the AK just fit me better?
am I being biased?

I want to love the AR!
the mags weigh less, I don't have to charge it between mags like the AK, it's more accurate,  it breaks down for compact storage...
but it just feels weird....

You've been doing it wrong all along.

But seriously, my only gripe with the AR platform is the location of the charging handle.

It's a rifle for civilized marksmen, not conscripts in central africa

I felt the same when I bought an AK. You get used to it I guess.

I do have to say it got 10X better when I ditched the A2 pistol grip on day 2 and put on a hogue, but I still like the hogue on the AK more lol it's wider

Dump the A2 stock in favor of a shorter stock like your AK has, like an A1 stock or a collapsible setup.

Should feel better.

I own both. The AR15 is so vastly superior to the AK it isn't even a contest. Not even in the same class. Whomever said the AK belongs in the garbage (joke or not) was right, when comparing the two.

The AK 'feels' better to you because you have been shooting them longer.

I can't stand a standard AK grip. Aside from that, I can shoot just about any longarm you put in my hands without a 'feel' thing.

Mosins, AKs, Garands, ARs, Springfield 1903s, Mausers, whatever. It's just a change in the battery of arms, but most semis are roughly the same, as are most bolt guns.

You should do what your heart tells you and stick with the AK platform

it's not the length, I prefer my Kavar nato length AK stock which is 1.25" longer than the warsaw length

Once you get past the fact that you can hit stuff with the AR, it starts to grow on you.

I'd also suggest trying a 20" upper with that A2 lower.

Rifle stock on Rifle = good.

Carbine stock on Rifle = good.

Carbine stock on Carbine = good.

Rifle stock on Carbine = suck.

I'd have gotten a midlength, but I got a good deal on the carbine.
I really prefer fixed stocks

Another suggestion would be an RRA LAR-47 for ammo/mag commonality

Shoot it moAR and post less, it will feel more natural to you after 10k rounds or so...

Bump fire 15 mags through it in rapid succession, then grab the barrel.
Your warm up to it.

I used to be a solid AK guy, just couldn't warm to AR's (after numerous tries, everything from std SP-1s to a custom XM-177E2). Finally handled an AUG and I was hooked so bad there's no going back for me, just love the compactness, ease/speed of handling and the weight distribution.

I'd have to agree.  My ak is cool and all, but there is no way in hell I'd take it over an ar

I agree, I have been a garbage man now for 12 years and the AK platform just feels good. I have resisted buying an AR for the simple fact that all AK parts are imported and are of a finite quantity due to them mostly being surplus. Where as ARs are domestic and a dime a dozen so there is no hurry to get them. ARs just do not push my buttons like a nice simple AK. Plus I am usually a left, so the AK works pretty damn well for me in terms of control surfaces.

Just do a few fast magazine changes, and the guns themselves will tell you which one is better.

I am an AR fan boy...if I had to go into a gun fight and had to pick between  an AR and an AK it would be AR all the way...

but just shooting the AK feels more comfortable... the SKS even more so... I know strange huh...

I had an AK for a year before I bought my built my first AR.  Now I won't even take the AK out of the safe.  Piss on that piece of junk.

YMMV
