Exactly.

I came across the term 'indiginous Americans' a while back. hmmm come to think of it, it was an Indian who used it. I prefer that term for Indians.

My heritage is mostly German and Welsh, back on topic. [:)]

All right, all right, just to show you that I'm not all Hun all the time, my ancestry is mostly English and German, in that order. My English ancestors arrived in this country in 1675, my German ancestors in 1830.

My great, great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather was Edward Teague, born 1660 in Cornwall, England, who came to America in 1675, landing at Annapolis, Maryland.

Late arrival. Almost missed the party. Can hardly forgive my grandparents. They identified themselves as Americans, and were extremely grateful and respectful of this country. So am I.

E pluribus unum in action!

Amazing to see what a mix of origins people have.  All ultimately becoming (hopefully) irrelevant to any substantial question.  In the meantime, there is no harm in finding out where your ancestors came from.  It helps gives you some perspective about how you came to be in the land of the free and the home of the brave.

It's "Scots" not scotch. Scotch is a whiskey, Scots are a people. My great-grandfather hammered this into us when I was little (he was born in Scotland & had dual citizenship). I was a pall-bearer at his funeral, had a piper & everything. It was a tearjerker.
