While I normally agree with what he says, I've criticized him for being melodramatic and a broken record at times. Today he gave a child a "miracle" when he told his parents he would pay for their son to have surgery that might restore his lost hearing. As someone who went through reconstructive ear surgery I know how ridiculously expensive this can be and how the results can be questionable. Insurance often won't cover it and it can run hundreds of thousands of dollars. When he told them he broke out in his typical tears, but I didn't think they were fake, not for one second. He surely can afford it, but to offer up that kind of support to strangers is truly a beautiful act. So hats off to you Glenn.

I don't care what anyone says about Glenn, he's the genuine article and a damn nice guy.
His tears are tears of passion, and there isn't a damn thing wrong or weak about showing passion. Way to go Glenn!! |
|
I for one, have never once thought that any of GB's tears were fake. What he did tonight was a wonderful thing.
|
|
As the father of a special needs child, I bawled like a baby when he said it.
I have to have my wife watch this show when she gets back from our son's therapy session. May God bless you, Glenn. You are a true testimony to the justice Christ taught about. |

I think that is great what he did but I have to ask, why did he have to do it in the eye of the public? I didn't see the show so don't beat me up.

I'm glad the kid will receive treatment but I am always skeptical about Beck's sincerity.
|

What he did for that town and the people in it was heartfelt and I commend him for it, while all the other talking heads are looking to tear each other down he tries and does bring people together, carry on sir, I salute you Glenn.

God bless the child's good fortune.
Still, I wonder when Beck is going to stop with these conspicuous displays of magnanimity? Answer: When it stops enhancing his public image. |
|
What he did makes him better than 95% of the people here, myself included.

I'm glad the kid will receive treatment but I am always skeptical about Beck's sincerity. Really?? He ALWAYS preaches about the value of Charity....... and practices what he preaches....... along with what he did tonight, last week he gave a guest $100,000.00 dollars for a hospital and about a month ago, gave hundreds of thousands for another cause..... he is a HUGE contributor to the troops ..... I don't have a figure on the amount he has given and raised for the troops..... he paid for plane tickets, security, and housing for many of the speakers at his 8/28 event..... rented everything out of his OWN pocket. He IS the real deal and one of the most honest, sincerest, true Americans alive today. Check out what our Congressmen and women ..... our Senators etc. give to Charity....... I'll save you the time, not much. Maybe you think he is just crazy and gives out MILLIONS of dollars to Charities to fool you??? If you doubt his sincerity you have never LISTENED to him or WATCHED his program longer than 2 minutes. |

Can those of you who are knocking him for the public displays speak to what he does privately?
|
|
Quoted: God bless the child's good fortune. Still, I wonder when Beck is going to stop with these conspicuous displays of magnanimity? Answer: When it stops enhancing his public image. You know this how? The man has given hundreds of thousands of dollars and raised millions for charity. Maybe you're projecting just a little bit? |

I'm just waiting for someone to call him out on the SEAL device, or any of the other unit insignias, he often wears on his lapel. Now that will be worth waiting for. Any takers?

A PR stunt?
Give me a break. The reason Beck has been covering his own good deeds is because he is trying to lead by example. Charity has been a major theme on his show for over a year and Beck is putting his money where his mouth is. |

And, don't forget to pump your brakes and use chains if possible. |

Good for him. Though expensive it will be one of the few things he remembers for the rest of his life.
Helping a child in need is a very cathartic thing. |

No his melodrama not over acts of charity but when he talks about current events, that often seems contrived. Can you think critically? |

I've thought about sending him one of my unit crests to see if he wears it on his show. That would be cool. Also, pics and patches, maybe a story too? eta: a friend from work got an email from GB about the pics he took recently in Haiti and sent in. |

Glenn Beck gets a bad rap on this site, from a lot of posters, and I don't know why.
he's a good man, with good intentions.

Sounds a lot like Oprah giving infintesimal percentages of her wealth always with the cameras there rolling to record it all. 4073 |

In the past couple weeks I've seen donate hundreds of thousands of dollars, I'd be willing to bet there is much we're not seeing. |

For someone that professes to be a Christian, I find it hard to believe Glenn isn't familiar with this scripture. Matthew 6:3-4 |

Quoted: When he gives his own money publicly he is inspiring his listeners to give their money. Which ends up being a lot more than he could give by himself. Matthew 6:3-4 Save it, there are some people here who take every word contained in the Bible literally. Did Jesus do everything in secret? No he did not. When he was at the wedding and turned the meager fish and loaves and wine into a feast he didn't do it in secret. He didn't heal the broken and maimed in secret. You can do great works in the public eye to inspire others, you should not do them for the purpose of garnering favor and accolades. |

Glenn can definately be melodramatic. I still listen to him everyday though.
Today he broadcast his show from my little hometown and birthplace (Wilmington, OH and probably froze his butt off) because he wanted America to see what a community can really do when it meets serious adversity. I'm proud of that town AND Glenn both. It was a good show. |

I can't help but notice most of the people on the Left (Media, Pols, etc.) who gripe most about Beck, probably aren't giving out anywhere near as much money as he does. When was the last time Olbermann or Stewart offered to fix some kid's hearing? Or try to help a town rebuild itself? Sure, they can throw all kinds of stones, but at the end of the day, that's ALL they've done. Screw 'em. |
