I got my electric bill today, and boy am I pissed. My usual $75 is now up to $111!!!

All I have is a freakin' one bedroom apartment. I have been keeping the air at about 72 (completely off now) and all of my lights have those energy saver light bulbs. Gas prices are bad enough, but this takes the cake. I'm going back to using candles!!

$350.00 plus, quit your whining.
I can say, however, I am glad to finally afford a nice house and am able to keep it comfy.

You are not racking up that kind of bills with a handfull of lightbulbs. Air is expensive of course ,do you have an electric hot water heater? Put one of those insulation jackets around it-good for a couple of bucks a month. Check faucets for drips,it can add up if you multiply it out 24/7.Do you have an old ratty refridgerator or freezer with bad gaskets? A new refridgerator can pay for itself in a couple of years if your old one is a junker, (and keep your beer colder at tha same time).
If you are living in a rental look around and see if there might have been anything hot wired into your panel or meter that goes to the other apartments. This could have been a dumb mistake by someone or just a complete rippoff.
In my neck of the woods there are low interest loans and grants availible to homeowners when you spend the money on energy conservation. Insulation, beter windows or storm windows, improvements to heating or cooling systems all fall into this, check with your town government or utility company.

My bill was 15 bucks more last month than the month before even though the energy usage graph showed I used less energy.

I'll send you an Innagodadavida(sp) record, a lava lamp, and some incense and you'll be all set.

Just be happy this 100 shit has passed - set some new records I hear.

EDIT:

BTW it was "mid-70's and sunny" in Hazel Park today.
