Hello ARFCOM, just thought I'd like to share. I started the process to become a Border Patrol Agent in September 2007. I finished all of my part and duties in December and waited to be scheduled for a duty station and Academy. A long wait with no idea, at all, of when I would be notified.

I got the call yesterday!

I'm thankfully only stationed an hour's drive away from home and I leave for the Academy on May 13.

ETA: Boulevard station, San Diego sector. Class 771.

Congratulations! Watch your corholio.

Do you speak Spanish? They recently changed the Academy to all Law the first half and Spanish the second half. If you can pass the Spanish test you get out earlier.

Congrats!

Congratulations, and thanks for helping to secure our border, even though I'm sure you'll find many times when your hands are tied by regulations.

Congrats!

Thanks everyone! I'll definately watch my cornholio and do my best.

Unfortunately I don't know Spanish, but I did really well on the Artificial Language Test so I feel I can learn it quick. We'll see.

Good going Mike! Just remember not to shoot any pot smugglers in the ass.

BTW if you ever see a guy shooting an AR-50 off a machine gun tripod past Jacumba, that's me.

(ETA the M249 in the background is real, pic was taken in Nevada.)

Hurry up with the Academy and then catch us some illegals, and make it as unpleasant as you legally can for them too!

Congrats.

UNLESS you write a report afterward!

Congrats. I have thought about it, but I don't want to move and there are not many borders in UT.

Sutton was the guy who went over ramos and compean for shooting the drug smuggler in the ass. There was much adrenaline dumping and the smuggler bladed while attempting to disengage.

I'll look out for you then and sweat you about shooting that damn illegal airplane destroying 50-cal!

You do a small psychological test online. If you pass it, you schedule your test. STUDY and pass the test. There's a whole battery of other processes afterwards. If you have the option for "Compressed" testing, do it. THIS will give you a better idea. As for selective, they have a quota to meet and I hear the standards are somewhat relaxed . But during the process you'll find out if you can cut it or not.

That I am not sure of yet. I need to check my packet when it comes in. I'm guessing it'll be the New Mexico location. Artesia I believe.

OHHH, that fucker I didn't know how he looked like.

Yeah, the whole Ramos and Compean deal is one of the things in the back of my mind that worries me about this job and the whole "hands tied behind my back", but I'm still willing to do this and feel strongly about protecting the borders of illegals and drugs.

I'd say "Welcome to the Patrol', but I'll save that until you survive the academy. Stay healthy, keep injuries quiet, and study, study, study. Just because some guys in your class want to party all the time, keep your nose to the books. Some of those party guys are full time re-treaders.

Be safe, and good luck.

Honor First.

So here I am at the academy. I didn't get a chance to do an update before I left, but here I am. I'm still somewhat stressed, trying to adjust. Unless something big comes up, I don't know if I'll be doing many updates here. ARFCOM will definately keep me sane though. Ok, time to get settled!

Congrats! I was in for a while. My hiring process took 13 months to complete and I was eventually stationed in Brownsville, TX.

Repeat after me...

"Digame Su nombre completo y correcto!"

You'll never forget that one.
