Is a different technique, called scarification; where you actually turn the scar into the art piece.

Almost like getting branded, but instead of getting "branded" with a hot branding iron; the method is to actually remove pieces of flesh and let the resulting scar become bumped and raised by removing the top layer of skin, known as the "epidermis".

Also, Endorphins are released in the process of obtaining the scarification that can put a person into a high or euphoria; so i guess is easy to conclude that some poeple do it to get a high.

I'll stick with a traditional ink tattoo, thank you very much.
