And he's a Philosophy professor no less . I almost had a stroke when he revealed he was a staunch Conservative/Libertarian. He watches FOX news with regularity and has cracked a few jokes about CNN and Dan Rather's reporting.

Even more amazing is he's Canadian.

I never thought I'd see the day where I had a conservative college professor who wasn't too PC to share his beliefs.

Only one of my Philosophy professors was conservative.  There were a few "moderates", but most were to the left of Nancy Pelosi.  I assume they were moderates, because they kept their cards pretty close to the vest.  With the liberal administration, if you want to get tenure, you keep your mouth shut if you are at all conservative.

I went to college in Commiefornia, so YMMV.

My former school's Physics department had/has conservative teachers.  Mechanical physics was pretty fun, the profs had  this program that demonstrates protectiles to which he launched, dropped, crushed  kittens  for lectures.  There was a few times were the proffesor went off topic talking about guns and how great it was to fire a .50 for the first time.  I still remember one saying "this is not a democracy, its a republic, the republic to which it stands."  Dont know how the topic got there but nobody ever complained.  One also brough a (oh the horror!) BB gun to demonstrate how a ballistic pendelum worked.

That is cool.  Part of the reason it took me 5.5 years to graduate college is because I refused to take a couple of classes b/c of the profs. teaching them.  I knew that a prof. that I liked was going to teach them the following semester, so I waited.  They were both Poli. Sci. classes.

My GF's philosophy professor seems like a good guy -- he sounds like he's libertarian/conservative and am told he brings up some good points in class.  My GF agrees with most of what he says, yay for me.

+1

Most of my professors seem reasonable, and i'm in engineering too.

Our university's conservative newspaper put out a list of the Top 5 worst professors based on the biased shit they preach in class. All of them were from liberal arts disciplines, namely philosophy, history, gender&feminist studies, etc

Which part don't I understand, legalize drugs, remove government and society from control of all moral mandates?

I have no problem deciding what is right and what is wrong, that is what a conservative is. A liberal does the same only disagrees with me but they have an opinion, A libertarian sits on the fence can't make up thier mind, smoking thier doobies, shooting thier guns and not taking a stand on any moral decision.

No libertarians make such decisions every day... for themselves.

They do not belive that the government should make decisions for people. Government should step in and have laws against using force or fraud against another person, and run the courst for settling civil differences... and that is not.

Doesn't suprise me at all. Quite a few are, the only thing is they don't go shouting it from a building for the world to hold. Would kinf od defeat being conservative.  On the other hand the liberals are sort of like the gays, they want to be special and want everyone to look at them.

Well for your information Society gets to set standards for the way it's members act and what they do. If you don't have those controls you have anarchy. I am not an anarchist.

Are you arguing that we need the government to control the standards of our society?  to control how people act?

for your information, our government was constituted for certain specific and enumerated purposes.  You can read all about them in the constitution.

Playing nanny to make sure people don't hurt themselves on drugs, porn, guns, etc is NOT one of those purposes.

That government was NOT created to tell people how to act.  It was created to protect the rights of the people.

I don't use drugs because I think they are bad for you, but neither does the government have the authority to tell people whether they can or cannot use them.  Please show me where the constitution gives it that power.

Most professors I've met are conservative.
But you wouldn't know it.

No conservative feels the need to scream, shout, haruange and harass everyone.
They sit there quietly, do their jobs, and roll their eyes at the leftists.
But like you and I are there to learn, they are there to teach, not indoctrinate.
So very little bias shows through.

Thank God.

I got two conservative professors..

One is my Poli Sci professor. (Staunch conservative, very constitutionalist views)

Second is my philisophy teacher... is a avid gun owner, was in the Army, made E7... a libertarian if anything....

However, he speaks french and likes Europe. (Mostly for the women)

Can't win em all, eh.
