Me me me me me!

No, really.

Me.

It's not that you don't look of age. They are worried you are an undercover compliance inspector for the state, the company or other.
Link Posted: 4/18/2017 8:46:50 PM EDT
It's the makeup, isn't it....

I am 38, full beard with white hair sprinkled in and got carded today, I guess I have ten years to go.

If you really think you look young then post a photo and subject yourself to the scrutiny of GD.

State law in TN. No ID no booze.

Maybe, not actually CARDED.

But, the clerk asks your age because.....they have to key in some answer into the computerized cash register before it'll allow the transaction to proceed.

Aloha, Mark

Was unfortunately at Albertsons buying beer last week and the cashier tried to ID everyone at the register.  I just LOLed at him since no one has been underage for like 20 years.
Link Posted: 4/18/2017 8:52:35 PM EDT
They think you're a beer cop.
Link Posted: 4/18/2017 8:53:04 PM EDT
What state? I'm 31 and haven't been carded in 8 years aside from Pick 'n save, who will card a 90 year old...
Link Posted: 4/18/2017 8:54:23 PM EDT
Post a pic so we can laugh at your cherubic features, baby face.
Link Posted: 4/18/2017 8:55:00 PM EDT
You'll get carded more frequently for tobacco here than alcohol any day of the week.
Link Posted: 4/18/2017 8:55:41 PM EDT
The wife loves to get carded. Cashiers did it often until she was about 44-45, not so much anymore.
Link Posted: 4/18/2017 8:56:16 PM EDT
Place near here cards every single person, every single time. Don't think your special.
Link Posted: 4/18/2017 8:56:24 PM EDT
I am 65 and get carded every single time I buy beer at Giant Eagle.
Link Posted: 4/18/2017 8:56:50 PM EDT
31 and still get carded, they look at my funny when I hand them my ID, still has my 16 year old photo.
Link Posted: 4/18/2017 8:57:33 PM EDT
I get carded at game stop for a video games. 29 years old and I sure as hell get carded buying alcohol and at bars.
Link Posted: 4/18/2017 9:01:10 PM EDT
I always tell them it is kind of them to card me.  I just wish they (meaning most retailers) would card everyone using a credit card to pay.

Yeah, I had a little pep in my step until the next time I went in and saw the sign said, "We ID everyone under 40."  It used to say 27.

Of course, it isn't so much that old people look younger but more that young people look so damn old.  Might sell beer to a 15 year old who looks 22.

This.

The two places I regularly go with friends are mandatory carders. They don't care if you are in a wheelchair with a full head of gray hair and wrinkles, you get carded.

I'm rarely carded and when I am it's a surprise as I'm so use to not having to show it.

I do always ask what the date they put in the machine is so I know what age I am that day lol.

Was in line once and an older couple was buying beer in wine in front of me, the cashier asked to see my Id as well, I asked why and the lady thought that they were buying beer for me and she wouldn't sell them their stuff till she saw my ID
Never mind that I had no idea who those people were and we never said a word to eachother or ever seen each other till being in line.

I had the shift manager come over and explain what the fuck was going on and pointed out the grey in my beard and asked if I looked like a teenager, he mumbled that it was store policy and up to the cashiers choice
I did get a little loud and the off duty cop that is there at night wandered over and stood off to the side and it all go down, he chuckled when I asked if my grandmother would of had to show her Id if the people in front of her were buying booze as well

I even said hell, let's lock the doors and check everyone's ID

I left my cart of groceries in the line, told the people trying to buy the stuff in front of me that I was sorry for being in line behind them and left.
The off duty officer did follow behind me and I asked if if he ever seen something like that before and he said yep and would be surprised of how many people did the same thing that I did.
He did ask how old is was and at the time I was 34 and he just chuckled

I started buying liqueur in the ABC stores when I was 17 and never got carded until I was 24 just after they put in the law that you had to be 21.
At 57 that was the last time I have ever been carded.

The clerk at Gander Mountain asked for ID when I was trying to buy ammo the LAST TIME I stepped in the place. He insisted.  I left the ammo on the counter.

Their store/their rules. My money/my rules.

Wait til they give you the senior discount, unasked. And you aren't a senior citizen.

I got carded for boolits.  I took off my hat to reveal all the grey hair and said, "Does this look like a hair of a teenager?"
Link Posted: 4/18/2017 9:17:24 PM EDT
I didn't get carded today. Haven't in a long while, I'm in my late 20s.

I may have that rode hard, put up wet appearance.

IIRC from last thread about writing, "See ID," on back of a credit card, due to credit card processing agreements, getting ID is against many credit card companies agreements.

I'm 58.  I get carded once in a while.  It's ridiculous.  But the computer screen says check, so they check ...

When I worked at the bars I used to card people I knew were of legal age often, since it was easier to cover my ass that way then have to deal with some bullshit.  I've IDed 21 year olds that look like they were in their 40s and people in their 40s that looked like they were 19.

I wonder if it is because, for a lack of terms, my genetic makeup.

I was one of those freakish kids who did not mature until very late.  Yeah, you picked on me in Middle School on forward.  No, I did not go to prom, because what chick wants to go to prom with some dude who looks like he is 12.  Its funny what you remember, but when I got my drivers license at 16 I was 5'4 and 110 lbs.  I didn't stop growing until I was about 24 at 6'2-6'3.

Does late maturity translate into late aging?  I have a full, thick, luxurious Mane of hair (sarcasm)  that is only starting to get the slightest bit of gray, that I try to pluck out because I am an asshole.

Go Trump.

Go 10mm

I used to get carded until about 40, and only when I was coming home from the gym and was still wearing workout clothes.

My father is almost 78, fully gray hair(what he has left) and beard, and uses a walker to get around.

'Yup, still has to show his ID to buy his "Brother Theloneus" beer or a bottle of scotch.

Stupid law.
Link Posted: 4/18/2017 9:44:53 PM EDT
If you get a certain number of alcohol related offenses in my state, your DL gets a red stripe meaning it's illegal to sell alcohol to you.  So everyone gets carded, even the geezers.  Doesn't only have to do with age..
Link Posted: 4/18/2017 9:47:53 PM EDT
I never got carded at 16, 17, or 18, etc.

Now, I get carded every time.

I am old, quite old.

State law in NM. I've been carded more in the last 10 years than I was in the previous 50.

I was the 'go-in-guy' when we bought booze in high school.

You're getting carded because the employee is following company rules, not because you look young.
Link Posted: 4/18/2017 10:36:59 PM EDT
Age 50 - typically get asked "what is your DOB" if anything, rare  to actually have to show ID.
Link Posted: 4/18/2017 11:12:21 PM EDT
I didn't get carded on my 21st and only a handful of times since in the last 7 years. It my be the dead muskrat that I can't get off my face for more then 15 min with out melting the blades on about 2 trimmers and 5 sets of razors....
