I had the opportunity to go to the Bristol Mine ghost town recently. The mine operated on and off from the late 1800s to about 1959. I got some pics of a lot of the old stuff that hasn't been removed.
Bristol Mine Edited to allow use of photo bucket. |

OMG, my 56k modem just melted. Lucky I still have this 28.8. Ok, that was a joke. But you killed my T1 at work. Seriously. Pictures are all half loaded. LOL.. What I can see has some really neat stuff. I would like to poke around there myself.
Why doesn't somebody salvage all that stuff? If nothing else there's got to be quite a bit of scrap metal there.
It is all owned by a mining co. and is patented land. Bristol is also on the National registry of historic sites so it's a crime to mess with or remove anything.
No offense, but your host is slower than... well... something really damn slow.
I'm sitting on 18mbit internet service and this dog does not hunt. |

Yeah, has to be the host. Mine is about 22megabit and still loading.
I think your host is HOSED.. I look forward to see the pix when it settles down..

I removed the pics in my second post. I've got over 100 pics but since no one can see them no sense in posting them. I'm open to suggestions on how to make them accessible.
Well crap, they all show up for me. Any help in making them show up for everyone else would be appreciated.
Fuck. I really wanted to see this. Load them on photobucket.
Use photobucket. I would love to see the pics but even I am getting red Xs on a sat connection here in Afghanistan.
When Afghanistan says they can't see pics you really did fail..
Alright I just made a photo bucket account and I'm uploading 103 pics. After the upload I'll figure out how to post it

What is meant by "patented land"? I understand the national registry part & am glad a treasure like that old ghost town is being preserved. |

No one can tell what "patented land" is? Maybe a typo by OP? (should it have been private land instead of patented?).

Excellent responses! I did some further research; though you two might be interested in this discussion of land patents and the Kelo decision on eminent domain:

That old elevator stuff is cool.
I still work on panels that look similar to that, but the drum machines are pretty different from the normal elevators that I see. |

NO picture of the californian sign?
Can't remember the exact terms, but it dealt with looking at all of the items and don't be a Californian and steal or destroy the place. |

Bristol is in Eastern Nevada about 20 miles from the Utah border. Not a lot of California folks have any idea it exists let alone be able to locate it. |
