I decided to buy myself a belated Christmas gift and went down to buy an AK47. It was a SAR-1, Romanian and went for $499. Wha! I told the clerk I was expecting AK's to go for about $300, well he said, they used to. The AK looked used, but he assured me it was new and that they all look that way. Anyway, I walked away.
What do you think? $499 for an AK47?

$500.00 for a AK even new is quite a bit.
Heck, for another $100.00 you could get a new VEPR.

Way high. But they seem to be going up. Around here they retail for around $350.

I bought a hand picked SAR-1 from george mason on gun broker for $315 shipped and transfered. So I would say you payed a little to much.

Hell, no!  I've seen one for somtehing like $299 or so, here in Federal Way's discount gun (Washington State).  Guns should be cheaper in Texas, not more expensive!

Yeah, what is with the used look? I have the same model and they look pretty rough on the outside. Inside looked flawless and it shoots fine so I guess it was new. Never could get the cleaning kit apart, still sitting in the stock in plastic wrap. Paid $300 for mine with a couple of 30 round mags.

I din't buy the AK. It did seem too high. I couldn't belive it. Anyway I'm going to be looking in Pawn Shops, maybe I'll have better luck.
