Yep, my thoughts too, and my face when my neighbors kid said it to me tonight.

We saw Elton in Vegas 3 years ago. Great show.

...and why is he speaking to adults in a manner that indicates he thinks what he says matters?

He's about 20... I get what he meant. I'm sure Eminem opened up the doors to some younger Elton listeners but still

He also generously used his fame to help launch the career of another young artist, Dr. Dre.

I remember when Philidephia Freedom was just out and playing on AM radio, I was @ summer camp and thought is was so awesome. I wanted it on 45, I cant remember if I got it or not.

I had a babysitter who played the Goodbye Yellow Brick Road album and other Elton John songs nonstop. Great stuff, and an antidote for the schmaltzy music grownups were playing around me: Helen Reddy, Barbra Streisand, Neil Diamond.

Back then it was pretty rare for a child to have his own music collection or any way to play it. You just listened to whatever was on.

Did you tell the kid that Elton was great on the piano but sucks on the organ?

Young people have no idea. Back then it took over an hour to download that album.

I was a fan of Elton John before Eminem was born.

My first introduction to rock music was Elton John. Had two older foster sisters that listened to him and got me started with Benny and the Jets.

Should have told the kid, "Well, Good Bye Yellow Brick Road."

Aloha, Mark
