(Mods, please don't lock/trash this, it's not going to be advertisement for an EE trade or anything, just honest curiosity.)

I'm thinking of trading my old Czech 8mm Mauser (with bayonet) for a shotgun. I'm thinking 12 ga. but not the typical fudd long ass barrel shotgun. I'm curious, would this be a decent trade? I mean, would anyone honestly be interested in trading a shotgun for an old Mauser?

Also, I'm thinking of trading my Springfield Armory XD40 (Service Model) for a 1911. I'm kind of wanting a 1911 with some type of rail on it, since I just got a new M3 light this Christmas, I'd kind of like to be able to put the light on it. Would this be a good deal? I traded a Springfield Armory U.S. Mil-Spec GI .45 1911 +50 for the XD40 that I have now, and I have regretted it ever since. I'd like to do a straight up trade for a 1911, but I honestly don't know if I can. That's why I'm asking you guys! :-)

Sooo tell me ARFCOM, would these trades seem realistically achievable?

Anyone?

Do these sounds like reasonable trades?

umm. Color me simple. But MY  XD has a light rail on it ;)

Depending on brand someone might trade you for a shotgun. IDK about the XD. I wou  ld have to say it has lower resale than most 1911's so you might have to pay up some.

the shotgun and the rifle might trade, depends on what you want

the XD and the 1911 won't trade
XD's run about $400 or so
1911's START at $500

My XD40 has a rail on it, and the light fits fine. I just was wanting to see if I could trade for a 1911 with a rail, so I can use the light on the 1911 instead.

The Mauser is a M98/22 Czech 8mm. I'm not sure where on the rifle I need to check to find the date it was made.

I was afraid of that

When I bought my SA 1911, I got it for $420 (with tax), it was an awesome find... But I don't think I could find a better one for around the same price as an XD.

I was actually going to bring them with me to the Indy 1500 Gun & Knife show to see if they'd spark any interest in trades, but we'll see. Hopefully I'll get lucky.

Don't trade the Mauser!!! Do it for the children..

The XD Service for a 1911 sounds ok to me.

Save up, buy a shotgun, save the Mauser.

I would like to keep it, but I really want a shotgun...

I don't really have any use for the Mauser. I don't go hunting with it, and I feel that if I traded it for a shotgun, I could at least go hunting with my buddies when they go. (they hunt with shotguns too, and they don't have bolt or semi rifles)

What kinda shotgun you looking for? Local shop has some Partner pumps checked and the Maverick 87's are around 229 here. Let me call around and see what i can find.

You should be able to get a decent shotgun for that rifle, but you're not going to get close to a 1911 with a rail for that XD.

As someone else said, 1911's START at about $500 and by the time you get into tacticool models you're usually well over $900.

1911s are WAAAAAAAAY over rated anyways. Keep your XD.

I highly doubt that anyone would trade the mauser for a shotgun like that... now i have an OLD single shot 12 gauge that i would trade for it, but never a gun like that.

Yeah cheapest 590 is like 350 used.

Well it doesn't have to be exactly like that one, but similar.

Something sweet, and to the point.

I'm just not looking for the typical "hunter" shotgun that most would see on ESPN on Sunday mornings

Your Mauser is worth at most $150. You might be able to get a Fudd shotgun with a long barrel in trade, but you'll have to saw the barrel to 18" yourself if you're wanting something for home defense.

You'll not get any 6,7, or 8 shot capacity shotgun in trade.

Maverick by Mossberg 88's

I say keep the Mauser and save up roughly 200 bones for a maverick. I hear you can get them on the cheap if you look around.
