I live in Michigan, so I am limited to a C&R gun. Any ideas what I can get for around $7-10 Grand? Where are the best places to look for these toys?

TIA!

I think Michigan has a law banning ANY machinegun.... I could be wrong... if C&R machineguns are allowed.

You could probably get a Thompson for around 10k

Check around locally for a Class III dealer... he might be able to get you into contact with some people selling C&R transferables.

Do you know that with the Class III license you forfiet your search and siezure rights? At least that is what a friend of mine told me who is going through the process for a GEMTECH . Something to think about.

I was under the impression that you had to declare the location that you would store the NFA item, and they could search that area only.

but I could be off on a few details as I've been too poor to get any NFA toys so far

No, you are incorrect about searching your property. And to buy a NFA weapon you don't get a 'class III license' You get a form 4 tax stamp. Read the FAQ in the M16 board, if I recall it might have these answers.

C&R guns cost 30-50% more then generic Title 2 guns because some states, that is all you can own and therefore the cost is higher.

The Armalite AR18 is a great C&R rated gun.

And you couldn't go wrong buying one from Ruben Mendiola.

AR18 excellent condition

I just can't get into full auto. (Maybe if MG's were no more money than a semi) Let alone be willing to waste 7-10k on it. WOW!

Glad I got one of the last Vector UZIs. $2570, 2 years ago. Oh yeah!

I think there are some C&R AKs out there but mucho expensive. The AR-18s would be a great choice given the limitations. You could go with a Thompson SMG but those are also very expensive. I doubt you are going to get anything much for under 10K.

I wouldn't spend 10K for any MG unless I won the lottery or something. But that's me. I always tell everyone get what you want, don't settle.

Well, the MG's I wasted $18K on about three years ago are now worth about $35K.

Want a belt-fed for about $10K: www.davidspiwak.com/67.html

Few more C&R's here: www.davidspiwak.com/Current%20Inventory.html

And it's the only one of my few investments that I can actually take out and enjoy.

echap...... As has already been pointed out, we are limited to C&R machine guns (unless you jump through the hoops to become a dealer in such goodies). Your first step is to obtain your C&R FFL as it is a requirement to ownership in Michigan.

Once you have your license, you can start shopping. When you find something you like, you make the deal. Once the deal is made, you start the paperwork (application for transfer, citizenship form, fingerprints, photos, signitures, and a $200 check to the feds). The times for applications to be approved vary widely (both of mine were in the 90 day area). When the seller gets your approved paperwork back from the feds, they can ship the gun to your doorstep.

One of the best ways to get into it is by attending a shoot. There are a few of us that get together to shoot in Lapeer county from time to time. It was at one of these shoots that I tripped over a good buy on my AR-18.

Guns that I know of in your price range include Reising 50s, Smith & Wesson 76s, possibly Stens and M2 carbines. The last few AR-18s I have seen are hovering right at the top of your price range.

A good starter gun would be a S&W 76. I was advised to start with one of these but purchased a Reising instead (I was to cheap to shell out the extra grand). The nice things about the S&W include cheap to feed (9mm), ability to have drums made for it, and mags are fairly easy to get.

Depending on what part of the state you are in, I might be able to hook you up with a dealer. If you are interested in buying, my best advise is to do so as soon as you can because the prices are constantly rising. Give me a shout if I can answer any questions for you.

Try the Riesling submachine gun. C&R and under 5G.
