Hear me out, only one name change allowed per account and the previous name would still show up in a locked portion of the users info as AKA and would also show up next to all feedback in the EE along with the new name. The previous name would also be displayed in each users post similar to the "title" box.

Better yet , how about we're allowed to do it with a donation of 'X' to the Wounded Warriors ?

I think we should be able to ignore mods and advertisers outside of their forums.

Why not one name change per every 10k posts? Or even better when a person gets approved for a new account, GD gets to vote on the new guy's user name.

No.  We should focus our resources on getting poop threads allowed.  I have documented and documented for this glorious day to come some day.

One situation where I believe a member should have been allowed to change his name, was when a guy signed up and started posting under the name "guanoholic" or something close.  Someone asked him about his name and he said (paraphrased, because it was quite awhile ago): "It was supposed to be Gunaholic, but my typing sucks.  So now people think I'm addicted to bat shit.  This should have taught me to use Spell Check, but I still don't."

I laughed pretty hard and had it for a sig for awhile.

Maybe we could have different names for different seasons.

In the winter time I would like to be called "snowman".

Unless I'm totally mistaken, the board software here used to allow you to change your nickname.  I know I didn't start using this nickname until a couple years after I registered.

What I'd enjoy is having to pay to set your avatar, and be able to pay to set other people's avatars, anonymously.  I'm a member on another board that does this and it's great for trolling purposes.

I vote for random 28 character usernames generated upon registration.  Such as:  885wt8g2v8653991w4966i5rpwd4

Free will and imagination are horribly overrated.  :)

Not that anyone gives a shit about my opinion, but I think the only people who should be able to change their usernames and carry over their join date and post count are military personnel. If "So-and-So_E6" gets promoted, he or she should be able to change their name to "So-and-So_E7" if they ask site staff.

Aside from that, it's an Internet forum. Next time choose wisely, or get over it. If you're so wrapped around the axle about your username in a virtual world, then it's probably time to log out and go outside anyway.

If site staff wants to reset my post count to -87, make my join date yesterday, and change my name to CJan_Idiot_Savant they are welcome to. The content of my contribution is what's important here-not my name or my stats.

I think we should all have ranks assigned to the front of our screen names based on the number of posts we have.  I figure that'd make me an NCO or something.

And we should be able to like or plus one users posts so everyone has a little meter bounces around in the red or green on a running thirty day average that shows how liked or unliked they are by the rest of us.

Iboats does that. From cadet (1-10 posts) to admiral (over 10K posts?) or something like that
