I'm planning on taking the family on a multi-week camping/touring trip from Indiana to the southwest next summer. Rocky Mtn NP, Canyonlands,, Arches, Zion, Grand Canyon, etc. I bought a small cargo trailer built on a boat trailer a few months ago to haul all of our camping shit. The plan is to buy a new axle and replace the small wheels with a pair of Wrangler wheels and a spare.  It is enclosed in a lockable frame made from 1x1 steel tubing and steel mesh. It is reasonably secure, but I would rather have it fully enclosed to protect it from curious eyes and the elements. I'm thinking about aluminium diamond plate Trailer dimensions are approximately 3.5' wide x 5' long x 20"tall.

I don't have alot of experience with metals, so what I need to know from the hive is where is the least expensive source for diamond plate?  Any other suggestions to enclose it are welcome. I am also considering using t&g barn siding. The trailer will be stored inside when not in use.

I did something similar.  See if there is a Metal Supermarket near you. If you are going to use pop rivets check out Harbor Freights pneumatic rivet gun!

You can also go to a semi trailer repair shop.  They might have or have a supplier for the colored sheets of trailer aluminum. Also might be a better selection of the thinner diamond plate aluminum.
