Why are you crying private, suck it up and get over it?

"Sgt. Its just that you guys wouldn't let me bring my M-14 and I am stuck with this little M-16."

(sgt. in tears) "I know son we all miss the M-14"

Before I get flammed this is just a friendly little sunday thread, Not that I don't like the M-16 but the M1A is a great rifle!

I don't think your DI (read R. Lee Ermey) will be so concerned with what you think. You might just find yourself on permanent latrine duty.

PS: And before I get flamed also, this too is just a friendly Sunday reply.

LOL@ Metrosexual. Thanks, I was trying to think of that word last night and I couldn't remember it.

I think the Metrosexual DI you're looking for is John Kerry.

I guess my perspective is a Marine perspective, but....

...did you Army fellas actually carry on conversations with your DIs??
At Parris Island, I'm afraid things are a bit more "intense" than that.

I cant remember one time when my D.I. showed anytype of normal human behavior and not once did he talk to us. That is 3 months living with the devil himself.

Dude, you're so full of shit your eyes are brown.  Hope it was a joke.

...No, we never got to "talk" with our DS's but towards the end of basic if the mood was right and someone had mailed you a goat to sacrifice while you were on firewatch, you could usually ask questions the next day.

Pvt...just try to have an opinion on ANYTHING.

As a post script...I went into the service with an extreme bias toward the M-16....and came out not only with a love for the little critter but actually liking the A1 over the A2.

Bingo.  They don't give a fuck about your sniffles, nor should they.
BTW, the M-16 you are going to be issued is a complete Piece of SHIT.  I would estimate that my M-16 had 14-17000 rounds through it.  when you broke it down, rifling was faded/missing for about 3/4 an inch into the barrel where there should have been rifling.
Couldn't hardly get that P.O.S. to group an inch at 25meters, either.  Don't expect much in terms of rifles.

I don't recall anything like that. Don't think I could have held much of a conversation with my ears ringing from getting screamed at 24/7.

On a side note: when my Platoon entered AIT we got ganged up with a bunch of Marines sent to us for M-60/A3 training. The Drill Sergeants got together with the DI's and started a "who can kill the most trainees" competition. I would have been safer at Parris Island.

[DI mode]It's tough to have a conversation with someone whose entire vocabulary consists of a variety of grunts and rude bodily noises! [/DI mode]

That's why you Marines didn't have any conversations with your DI's!

Kidding, of course!

Delta, was this at FT Knox? If so , what year?

BTW, when I was a Drill Sgt, I never yelled and screamed at anyone.

You believe that , don't you?
