I saw this sign for the first time today at church. It was a pic of a gun with a red slash and said "respect our wishes". Now this is in Texas where the legal sign is the 30.06/30.07 verbiage. If this were a business I'd be like whatever and carry in anyway, but this being my church seems different. Just thought I'd throw out to the Hive to see what y'all thought.

Signs are irrelevant. If there is not a metal detector and armed guards, I carry.
|
|
What about them respecting your wish for self preservation, protection?
|
|
My church has the red gun slash and unless authorized or by permission or something written under it.
Don't remember. I carry anyway |

Find a new religion.
10 Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, cutting off his right ear. (The servant’s name was Malchus.) |

It looks like they don't want you for a member.
Find another church. If they ask why you're leaving, consider telling them why. Feel-good BS tends to go away when it starts costing them money (lost donations). |

I was in a local business today at kids bday party with same sign.
Guess how many people knew I had my shield 9mm tucked at my 12? |
|
Time to find a new church. Even Jesus said sell your cloak to buy a sword.

That will stop the bad guys from coming in, don't you know anything?
|
|
I'd approach the pastor to find out what the reasoning is. I wouldn't mention that you have to have a specific sign in TX to not carry though
|

Turn around and walk away.Tell the preacher why you are leaving. It's obvious they do not share your beliefs nor do they respect the freedom of religion.

So, around these parts, the churches have started creating "security teams".
They carry on behalf of the church membership. |

No. Waaay further south than that We do have some guys that walk the lot and the main hall "security team" not sure what they do as I don't involve myself in it. We also have a few in LE I pay the sign no attention. |

I would first try to educate whoever in the church called for the sign (probably a busybody woman).
If that fails, inform them you will find a church that supports your religious values in addition to the freedoms and principles our country was founded on. |

Our church has one of those signs but it means nothing when the Pastor wants to make sure those of us with concealed carry permits are armed in light of all the threats.
|
|
Go to a church that isn't ran by libs. Our church encourages it and there are several known to carry concealed.

My church is the opposite. There may be those who oppose it but the pastor and board are aware and support the team who carry. Actually the pastor has the cleanest spot in the sanctuary to take out a threat coming down the aisle's.
His wife reminds me constantly that I am his body guard I'd probably find another place to worship, but I know that can be hard if there are roots there. Maybe you can educate them |

Everybody including the pastor carries at my church.
Find another. |

We have uniformed police officers in attendance and are encouraged to take full advantage of our 2nd Amendment rights.
...because the authoritarian leftists throughout history tend to end up being violent and anti-religion. |

Been a while since I've been to a church, but wouldn't that be an issue that they would discuss with members rather than just saying "too bad, so sad, bitches?"
|

Find a new church.
I'm actually pretty surprised to hear about your church doing that. In my experience many churches are doing quite the opposite by encouraging their legally armed parishioners to carry. Especially in light of ISIS encouraging attacks on United States' churches. |

Who was the dick who put up the sign? Tell him to take it down.
If they won't, it means that they don't care about the physical well-being of the folks who go to the church. Get his ass fired, or move to a different church. |
|
I'd contact them, explain my issue with their sign, including both logic, history and feels, and also tell them I will not pass through the door while the sign is there and remind them how much we drop in their donation box every week.

New Church. Tithe goes elsewhere.
Luke 22:36 He [Jesus] said to them, “But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one. |

People see shootings in the news and maybe see other no-gun signs think it will help. They just need you to explain the logical fallacy. Its sad that our society has come to this, having "security teams" at a church.
We have some of those large mega churches around here and at least one (maybe the others too) employ off duty police officers to be on duty during church services. Some in uniform (outside) and others plain clothes (inside). I would ignore a "no guns" sign at a church I was attending. The worst that will happen is they will tell you to GTFO unless you are being stupid. The infrequent times we go to Mass I will sometimes carry. |

I think I will talk to the Pastor about it. I know the larger churches have security personnel but I go to a medium size church which doesn't. I really don't want to find another church. My family loves it there, as do I. This is why it's so troubling to see these new signs. I guess I can bring up all the church shootings and try to explain the dangers of "Gun Free Zones".

Texas?
One good thing about the Bible Belt of the US is that if you don't like a church there are probably three more of the same denomination inside of a mile. |
