Brown Santa (UPS) dropped off my Randall Model 19 (Bushmaster) today. Just a hair shy of five years from the date of order.

Specs:

- black micarta handle (leather is standard)

- stainless steel blade

- 5.0" blade length (4.5" is the other option)

- Silver nickel hilt (brass is the standard option)

- Thumb notches on spine of the blade

Hope you knife nuts will enjoy the pics. I'll have to give it a good cleaning to get my fingerprints off the blade in the meantime.

Seriously, nothing about it appears special just by looking at the pic.

It's a Randall. If you are a collector, the name has an intrinsic value in itself.

The name doesn't necessarily mean a better blade, but its just the same as anything else.........two products can be equal in quality, but a "perceived" history of quality can bring a premium vs. a newer maker.

Did you pay for it 5 years ago?
Link Posted: 2/15/2012 3:07:34 PM EDT
I bet it is not parked under the handle...
Link Posted: 2/15/2012 3:09:29 PM EDT
No way would I wait that long for a knife.
I'm glad you are happy though..
Link Posted: 2/15/2012 3:10:17 PM EDT
walmart has the same knife for $ 29.95
Link Posted: 2/15/2012 3:10:58 PM EDT
Maybe they should hire another knifemaker. That one guy isn't keeping up with orders very well.
Link Posted: 2/15/2012 3:11:09 PM EDT
Knife guys are weird.
Link Posted: 2/15/2012 3:13:55 PM EDT
Screw that, my CRKT was here in a week.

I remember getting a pamphlet at a gunshow back in the 90s. Those knives were really neat looking. I wanted one, but I decided against it due to price. In the late 90s, I wanted one, and the wait was up to 2 years at that point. I figured the knife I found in the back of my med unit would suffice. I still carry that knife today. Oh well.

Nice knife! I've had a Dozier on order for 20 months now. Still a few months out from being made. I couldn't imagine waiting 5 years!

I spent $500 on a MicroTech and I do not use it because I am afraid that the blade will get scratched or the OTF spring will break...

No. Not at all.

Colt is a factory production rifle.

That's just how long the list is man.

There are plenty of knifemakers out there, PLENTY!!

But when someone wants a Randall, they get in line, with lots of others who want a Randall.

People don't get it.

I can't really blame them... it seems crazy.

But that's a pretty damn good investment, I must say.

Once Bo backed out of the business I lost my fascination with Randall knives. Nice blade though and enjoy.

I have a Brend that I bought from Walter in 1985 for $200. It's worth about 3k right now, maybe a bit more.

Well, thank your lucky stars that you did not have to stab anyone in the last 5 years.
Link Posted: 2/15/2012 3:39:02 PM EDT
I have that same knife with my name and a brass hilt . I bought it as my birthday present to myself. It is number 3 along with a 14 and a 10-7 . I use my 10-7 to cut thanksgiving turkey every year. My model 19 will go in the woods

I find myself asking the same question. I would have looked for a used one or a different knife over waiting 5 years for it. Wtf did the guy have to do mine the ore with a tea spoon and smelt it in his rectum?

Some things are worth the wait.

You can not rush perfection.
