Did you ever ask the pawn shop to contact the buyer and see if he is willing to sell it back to you? You never know.

Report it stolen. It will show up.
j/k Hope it works out well for you. |

Well, you got a good gun, the Defender, I love mine.
Hope you find that gun but don't sweat it. |

Interesting story, but I think you should just buy a new one, in the same config.

Quoted: Interesting story, but I think you should just buy a new one, in the same config. Not really the same thing. I have plenty of black rifles now, just not the first one I ever purchased. I still have my first pistol, a ruger MKII SS Slabside. My first rifle, my grandfather's Marlin Mod 60. My first revolver, a S&W 686+. My first shotgun, a Winchester mod 1400 20ga auto. And I will never sell any of them. I had a boss that got quite upset when I wouldn't sell my MKII to him even though he was willing to pay quite a bit over the cost of a new one. So, if I happen to locate this Colt, even just the lower, it would be the greatest! I sold my highschool hot rod, a '70 Elcamino back in '98 also, I found it three years later and bought it back too! Thanks, Wesley |

Excellent thread!
In some ways, I am glad that I do not remember the serial number of the Springfield Garand I was issued in the Danish army when I was a recruit - because if I remembered it, I would be obsessed with trying to find it, and would be constantly hassling the CMP and every concievable gun board to try to find it. So I know exactly how you feel. |

Good luck! Long shot epic thread in the making.
The reunion will have to be televised (or reenacted with MS paint) |

I don't have it. But I'll give your thread a little bump.
Good luck, hope you find her. |

DK-Prof, I has it ! your Danish garand !!! http://i74.servimg.com/u/f74/11/94/71/06/garand10.jpg Actually, I was thinking that in all likelihood I am the one who owns DKProf's issued Garand! |

Good luck OP, and thanks.
I had been thinking about selling the first gun I ever bought. It's a Ruger P 89 DC hat I bought when I became legal in Georgia on my 21st BDay. It's nothing special and by most accounts not much of a pistol but it's the 1st gun I bought and reading your thread will make it stay that way. |

Throw your serial # and what your looking for in your sig line. I've seen another user do it and it always catches my attention. Maybe it will catch the right persons attention.

Check with Colt, if the rifle was ever serviced they might have the contact info.
And hell, the BATF is scanning 4473's when a shop turns them in. Maybe a FOIA could get you the record! |

I got DK's Garand. Plugged the barrel, welded the bolt shut, hard chromed everything, and now I have a semi-decent wall hanger. Next up is finishing the stock in polyurethane to make it nice a shiny.

That was my first though, i assume you have been searching gunbroker, the EE etc? |

Not a bad idea. And good luck. I rarely ever see them, but if I come across one, I'll take a look.

I know how bad seller remorse can be so here is a free bump to the top.

This is weird. My first AR15 was that exact model. I bought it sometime in the 90's probably around 96.
Anyway, I got it in my head that I NEEDED a rifle with a chrome lined barrel and chamber so I stupidly traded it for a new Bushmaster HBAR A3 20 inch post ban. The Colt I had didn't have the chromelined chamber or bore. Still have the Bushmaster and it has been a great rifle but feel sentimental when I hear about the 6731. Patrick |
