I'm looking for a pair of the hiking boot/cross trainer hybrid type shoes. They need to be comfortable and they need to be mid top for ankle support. They need to be any combination of black and grey but no solid black leather as they DON'T need to look like cop boots.

Do you have a specific purpose for these boots in mind, or are you really going to both hike and cross train in them?  If so, what do you consider cross training?  I think we're going to need more info to help you out.

Basically I need the comfort of an athletic shoe with ankle support and a more rugged tread. They will be used for shooting, some trail hiking as well as some everyday use. I just called them hiker/cross trainer hybrid because that's waht they look like to me. I don't know the technical classification.

I am the biggest cheapskate around, but the top 3 things on my You Get What You Pay For List are:

Shoes

Binoculars

Chinese food

Good luck & let us know what you find...

You need Merrells or Salomons or something of that type of brand/shoe.

They got what you are looking for.  If you will be hiking/running in them, you will not want a shoe that is stiff unless you will be carrying alot of weight.
