I'm driving out to Texas on Friday, and I'd love to bring my BHP 9mm with me. However, I'm moving out to Austin to go to UT, and I'm not allowed to have guns in my dorm. I'd like to have something with me while I'm staying the night on the road. Suggestions?

???

I can't imagine living in a dorm.  Is there any way you can get  out of that?

Concealed means concealed.

Aside from the shitty beds, I loved living in a dorm.

Easy access to loads of females.

Works everytime...

Use the blunt side to knock someone, use the sharp edge to chop someone.

Go to the hardware store and get the biggest nut you can find and put it on a piece of 550 or put a C battery in a sock and wrap it in medical tape.

In OK that is known as a slung shot (sinker basher) and is a crime both misd. and felony depending on weather you are making it using it or selling it

There is a 'device' you can get at many truck-stops called "tire thumpers".

Generally about a 2-2 1/2 foot long, heavy and hard club.  The best blunt object money can buy.

Originally truckers used them to quickly check the pressure in their tires.  They are very hard, a pretty good weight, and often have a steel or lead core.  Eventually they kind of evolved into a trucker's self-defense weapon.

I have one of those and also a good machete.  T-ball bats of course aren't bad either (though not as good as a tire thumper).

There are different makes and models.  Some are more 'robust' then others.  Mine even has the words 'tire thumper' printed on it.  If anyone gives you shit tell them its a tool for your automobile.

When I bought mine at the truck stop the girl behind the counter asked me "You aren't going to beat the shit out of someone are you?"  I said "No its for my tires."  Then she said "Yeah the one we keep behind the counter is for our tires too."

I've tested it out on non-human/non-living targets before.  I would definitely NOT want to be on the wrong end of one.

They are like the ferrari of blunt objects.

I guess baseball bats with nails driven through it are probably out of the question, then?

+1  on those too

Tire thumper is cheaper and better in some ways though not concealable like the baton

Go to www.coldsteel.com, they have a self defense cane.  There is also a sword cane model, but that is a weapon.  THe cane cane model is made of high impact fiberglass, topped with a 6oz stainles steel head.  That thing is basiclaly a fancy looking mace (not the spray on kind, the whackin peasants with kind) and it's pretty cheap.

nope in your home perfectly legal...but the slung shot has its own law...so that they can charge inmates with something when they put a bar of soap into sock

Lol, I love the cold steel axe.  We've got ours currently mounted on ash shovel handles from lowes, since the shafts came a few days after the heads.  Pretty freaking big weapon, everyone should have at least two.
